Hasn't stopped here either mate. Poo isn't it. I hope to get that motor running this week might have to ring the 24v helpline to make sure of no more school boy errors. :o:

The car is now home and sharing driveway/front garden space with the rest of the fleet. Was a bit of a surreal trip back home at 60mph 6ft from the rear of my mate's 328i.

The M10 lump on this thing sounds sweet as, don't worry, I'm not becoming sentimental.

Thanks again to Dezzy for all the help with this chariot

Not a problem mate. The straight bar is a bit strange to start with isn't it mate. Bit close isn't it. Glad it's sorted finally. :D

Not much to update, but today I made an effort to get my overalls on and brave the -2 temp and the occasional snow shower.

Image

Got the front bumper & panel off and lights etc. Then got underneath and undid the front section of exhaust. The prop centre bearing and carrier is well mullerred and the transmission tunnel is rather compacted, so much that there are some marks on the prop front section where it has rubbed on the prop.

All I have left to do now is unbolt the prop and I can lug the engine & box out. Started late and had to knock off at 3.30 to go and pick Michelle up from town.

Nowt going on until next weekend now. Have just ordered a car creeper to keep my arse off the wet floor

well the weather is forecast to be a balmy 5 degrees tomorrow and sunshine. So the plan is I'm off for a quick scrapyard dig tomorrow morning and then back home and pull the engine & box out, plus whatever else I have the enthusiasm to remove.

good point mate. I'll dig all the shite out tomorrow and get some pics for an ebay fest. Got a set of 14" bbs lookylikeys which I foolishly bought thinking they were the pukka 15" bbs for Michelle's golf, only to be gutted when I realised they were 14's

Got a set of 18" BK's off the soarer, only 7.5" wide so ideal for scooby twats & MR2 deviants

16" mim 5 spokes 4x100 (but one bent)

14" x spokes.

That lot must be worth £150 :)

I'd forgotten this bitch likes to fight

Got a little bit done after getting back from the frag yard. Prop undone at the gearbox end, slave cylinder off, removed ECU and had a moment of "you stupid cooooont" for not removing it sooner fearing it may have got wet, but thankfully all good.

Was a proper mission trying to get access as the driver door is crumpled right up against the steering wheel and I had to destroy a good under dash panel to get it off  I then had another fight trying to get the ECU plug and part of the EWS witchcraft back through the poxy hole in the bulkhead. Got stuck upside down with my head in the driver footwell a few times :)

Inlet manifold off and everything unplugged but then simply ran out of daylight again and thought I had better give up rather than get stuck half way in the dark.

I'm really annoyed it's gonna be next weekend before I get to work on it again, at least the daylight hours are going in the right direction now. The car creeper was a god send as there was 1/2 an inch of water underneath the car near the gearbox.

Car creepers are worth their weight in gold Lee (as you have found out today). Mine is like yours but has the adjustable head rest too.

The only thing I noticed is they do reduce the amount of room you have under the car. Even with the axle stands fully extended, it was tight when wielding the spanner on the propshaft bolts. There wouldn't be room for an executive headrest too :)

exec headrest is only good with extra high stands or when your in wheel wells etc but it does come in handy at times. but any creeper does make your nips scratch the sump plug if the stands aren't at full height though

Just concrete it Dez, fit a huuuge carport type canopy thing to the side of the house, gravel board between next door and a nice big pair of gates at the front. Perfect 8)

Yeh you can imagine the grief I get for having the moredoor on axle stands outside the kicken window. Never mind blocking all the light.
Cheep fags at the top end would be nice mate but I have to get the moredoor finished first.

Now the snows gone I am going to be in there like swim wear. winkeye

You mean the garage where a pipe burst last week and filled with pit to the brim with water and 2 inches of water on the garage floor?
