Yes.. The basics have only just been phased out in the quest for the 'power race' tho.. However, they are still using the same number of valves/cyl etc.. 100bhp/l vs. 60.. Hmm.

An M50/52 looks like it should have been there from the start. I personally think the M30 has a nicer sound to it from the various cars I have seen in the flesh. Dan's beat is retardedly rapid but Ravi's cab just sounds so nice and it's a great cruising engine.

No one ever seems to mention in these "which is better M30 or M50/2?" threads that the engine management in the M50/2 is way more advanced and you get a MAF upgrade in with the bargain. Bhp figures mean so little in the real world but the flexibility of the engine and the way it delivers does, especially for a road car.

What about a separate thread of who's going to compare their engine conversions in an actual race? Track and straight line times would be interesting. Names on a list... that sort of thing...

I am 'enquiring' about a paddle clutch, not had much enthusiasm to do anything this last week though :?
Looking forward to a RR test though :D

1/4 mile times have already been posted Toby

So, and apologies if i,ve missed this in this thread., how does
the M30/ M50/2 conversions, compare to the 2.8 stroker build :?:
In terms of performance/reliability , costs and ease of conversion.

It's difficult to compare since the differences depend on how much is spent on the M20 2.8 build in terms of cam, vernier pulley (if required) and also the engine gets a rebuild. Engine swaps are generally cheaper but the engine might need a rebuild too.

No need for a vernier on a 2.8 build.
