Riiiight... the gearlinkage bit you got off the 325i *might* not work. I used a 320i one and the gear lever sits perfectly in the middle of the centre console bit. The 320i one and 325i ones are different part numbers so i dont know if they are different lengths.

Make sure though that you at least grab number 1 and 10 if you decide to get the 320i one,

Elcetric fan can come from a few different cars to be honest as long as it will sit in front of thew rad.Think 16" diameter is the absolute max that will fit but maybe even 15"?
Id just get one from an E34 or E36 that has aircon fitted,these are ideal in size and fit,easy to get hold of too.

Coding plug is the small White plug in unit in the bottom right hand corner of the gauges,just hold the two side tabs and it will pull out.


Forgot you mentioned the Evo manifold,ill PM the guy selling the M52 ones and keep him informed.

On UK versions of this, the LH panel is just black plastic, but for some markets there are up to four horizontal strips with messages that are illuminated from behind.
Does this have any bulbs fitted behind the LH panel? If so, remove them, and hold it up to the light.

Right, ive had a look and it doesnt have any bulbs in it although it does have the holes in the back for 4 of the push and twist bulbs and holders. It also doesnt seem to have any extra writing in it as when i hold it up to the light, only the red shines through from the check items. (albeit in german)

Well, ive been out scourcing some extra bits and have now found what is beleived to be, a 3.2 M3 evo manifold with gaskets

The manifold bolts straight to the head no probs at all.

If you are not going to modify the primary for number 6 at the back then you'll have to bash in the bulkhead about 5-10mm on the corner of the transmission tunnel about level with where the steering column exits the bulkhead. You'll also have to lose the sound deadening in this area.

Also, the pipes need modifying slightly after the lambda boss mounts where they elbow around, this is to give you clearance over the front anti-roll bar. Mine was modifed here and I also had to lower the mount of the front ARB slightly and even then had to bash the manifold in a bit due to the ARB resting on the the collector pipe when the car was jacked up.

Final tip, make sure the manifolds are fitted to the engine before putting the engine in the car, they are near impossible to fit once the engine is in situ.

You'll need a solid steering guibo too.

Here is a pic of my manifold with mods and also it fitted. By the way, they sound absolutely awesome. Real M3 rasp to it.

Looking at my steering shaft and the proximity to the manifold, I don't think you'll get away with using the solid steering guibo, you'll probably have to get 2 shafts tigged & sleeved like mine or buy one for a kit car like from www.carbuildersolutions.co.uk

The other option is to re-route primary number 6 to follow a path parallel to how the others go.

Thanks for the reply. As far as i know all the problems are trying to make this fit if you dont cut and weld for number 6 clearance for the steering. I believe we are just going to treat it the same as a standard exhaust and cut the sh@t out of it until it fits

Hopefully Tony will be along in a bit to confirm it as i dont want any extra work. Just want to get it fitted and spank its monkey.

i dont know if there is a difference between the evo and s50 manifolds, but the m52 manifolds are vastly different this is my ones before they have to be chopped down.



The price for standard s50 manifolds was about £150 when i was looking, m52 manifolds are about £40ish. You can buy stainless steel s50 manifolds that are already modifed to fit an m50/s50 in an e30. The fritzs bits one is about £700+vat and the btb one is alot more expensive.

wow, they are different. There just like the standard cast ones on my e36 325i.

These m3 evo/s50 ones are more like the old janspeed 4 into 1 manifolds i remember from years back

I can see now why they would sound better and hopefully improve performance.

Just waiting to hear from Eko to confirm all is good and im on my way.

I've heard the full fritzs s50 stainless system on random daves m52 - its sounds sexual, there is no other word for it. I'll eventually fork out the £1100 for the full system, but i'd love to hear yours with the chopped standard s50 manifolds.

To be honest I havent a clue of the best way of getting the S50 manifold to fit,think its a case of removing a section or all of the number 6 primary and getting the manifold in place......goe from there
Its just something we`d have to work out when it comes to it!
