Hi Guys

I'm stuck trying to swap my old drums for 325disks. Someone here must have done it!

Basically, BMW say that its the same cable for drums and for the mini drums in the disks but they have completely different ends on them.

Can anyone find a BMW part number for the two different types or is there a way to just modify the end of the cable??

Any advice would be great, currently my car is sitting on stands with half an axel attached.

Thanks
Stuart

I assume you mean handbrake cable. They are different between the drum / disc setup.

part number:- 32.41.1.158.421 ETK says about Ԛ£15 ea.

Thats the part number i found as well but i couldn't find a part number for the cable with drums to compare the cables.

Does anyone know how to replace the handbrake cables as i found it difficult to pull the cable through the sleeve, do you replace the the sleeve at the same time??

Hi, I,ve just done a drum to disc conversion, and despite being told the cables are the same, they aint! Changing cables is easy, except that the outer sleeve gets pretty corroded to the tubes in the body where they enter the transmission tunnel - WD40 and Mole grips did it 4 me, but I had the axle carrier/diff out, so access may be a problem. The cable ends have different fittings at the wheel ends between discs and drums - changing the ends sounds like 2 much hassle 2 me - get new, unstretched cables if you're going to the trouble of fitting discs (oh, and why not upgrade to Goodridge braided hoses while you're at it?)

Is there much difference and how much extra Ԛ£Ã”šÃ‚£Ãƒ”šÃ‚£ are we talking?

I'm changing the whole rear axel and diff (for a LSD :) ) so hopefully it wont be too bad, when i tried to remove the old cables from the 325 i got the disks off in the first place, i found it very difficult. Lets hope it wont be so hard this time.

Thanks for your advice!

Check out the forum group buy on Goodridge hoses - they were around Ԛ£48 including postage for the six line set (you'll need 6 lines for the disc set up) - Missy30 organised the group buy, but I don't know if she's got any sets left. Haven't tried them out yet, but other zoners feedback so far has been very positive.
Good luck with the swop-over!! :)
