Sat down this morning and properly worked out the MPG which works out to be 20.27 - not too bad imo!
Noticed that the car has faded again already, but it will be getting mopped as soon as my mate comes back from his holiday so im not massively worried.

my NV motor was shite on fuel could sink 40ltrs in 160 miles, and less if I was gunning it consistently.. I figured my 2.8 was returning a healthy 9MPG at the nurburgring and oulton park! Like an ox that motor!

I've noticed the M52 is a bit thirstier than the M50... but maby it's something to do with the way it "forces" me to drive itBob_S wrote:my NV motor was shite on fuel could sink 40ltrs in 160 miles, and less if I was gunning it consistently.. Might be something to do with the fact Bob thought the lambda sensor was an "unnecessary item"DanThe wrote:Thats funny, I could get 30mpg out of it if I triedBob_S wrote:my NV motor was shite on fuel could sink 40ltrs in 160 miles, and less if I was gunning it consistently..

Well! today its been dynoed at 182.8 BHP.
Its a little lower than i ideally wanted, but i reckon with an airbox instead of the tiny air filter it would probably of made more power. Im in the process of sorting out a few pictures so watch this space!!

In a strange way you should be pleased it is undereading. At least there is more to be had and you are not 'used' the power already. Nothing worse than getting a good result, but feeling the car is no where near as good as you want it to be!
What is the insurance then chap? You are about 20 + or - arn't you?

Yeah i suppose you are right there! I love driving the car anyway. I did some back roads and dual carriageway driving to get the the rolling road place. Not pushing the car very hard in the awful weather we've been having - its awesome to drive. Really comfy, not very squeaky at all, decent power on tap when you need it and even though its on standard 325i suspension it corners fairly well!
I'm 21, insurance is about £970 tpft with everything declared. Which isnt too bad imo.

Good results id say Paul.
That tiny aka 215bhp rated filter is surely restricting it?
Get that airbox sorted

Good thing is that is a proven `reliable` dyno so atleast the results should be genuine.

Bens back at work now though isnt he?
Aye, the dyno is very accurate. Kris with the calypso red e36 325i with the PHAT act rims got 188 on his first run and 191.6 on his second.
Was a good day all in all... even had a sierra rs cosworth make about 360bhp on the dyno too

Ive bought an s50 airbox with a k+n panel filter. Fitted it tonight with some modification that i will redo tommorow when its brighter. Anyway, ive taken it around the block for a quick spin...
what a difference!
On the down side... got hit square on the side of the head with the bonnet in the process... which has a part to play in me properly doing it tommorow and im now feeling a tad ill. My head hurts... alot!

Well heres a picture of it. Well and truely bodged in place, and tbh i dont like bodging or having bright red silicone hose - so i might still change it for an m52 airbox.

Airbox needs turning about 110° mate, that cup shaped thing next to the hose should be pointing downwards, located on a rubber buffer thing on the flitch panel
