the kit that seems to get recommended the most is a h&r cup kit. I normally see it with 35mm drop.
E46 M3 CSL but dreaming of another E30.

Hi- have fitted Spax 40mm lowering springs and non-adjustable gas shocks to my 320i - handling is absolutely spot-on - no body roll on corners, and not low enough to cause problems on speed bumps, etc. The ride felt very hard at first, (compared to the tired old standard set-up), but I soon got used to it. Is the VSX kit the one with adjustable shocks? At first, I wished I could 'soften-up' the ride on mine, but I don't do track days etc so I decided not to spend out on adjustables. Now I'm used to the slightly harsher ride I'm glad I didn't bother with adjustables!

no the vsx is the non adjustable vertion, I dont want to lose the ride make it too harsh or crashy. this is really the only reservation I'm having about it.

i've heard nothing but bad things about from spax from many mechanics and suspension dealers.
If u have a perfect crank, Cup kit is proven no need to be different it's the dangley bits, or can go H&R springs -35mm and inverted bilstein dampers which are fanatic and auto adjust on both. I have the latter and that is also very very good!

spax (40mm drop will become a 50mm drop, after the setteling in period she'l drop lower, i stuck 60mm drop on mine, shes all bedded in now and dropped to around 65mm-70mm ooohh its low, scrape city baby, one thing i will say handles very very well, if your going for the setup get the 40mm, dont be tempted for the 60mm like i did, its tooo low

Saying goodbye to 4-pot wrongness
