going to build a nice 325 engine up and wondered what would be the best parts and techniques for this.
thinking of:
cam, zaust manifold, chip, fuel pressure reg, lightened flywheel.
any thoughts, want a powerful high revving na engine

Simply follow the "Step-by-Step guide to Engine Blueprinting" by Rick Voegelin, published by Cartech (see http://www.cartechbooks.com) for pratical methods to increase performance of N/A engines for both road and race applications.timsands wrote:going to build a nice 325 engine up and wondered what would be the best parts and techniques for this.

Nothing wrong with a good N/A engine, and well worth doing it properly.

Looks like we'll have to enquire at Newman's to see what their rockers are good too. Especially as there less than 1/4 of that price.

24v swap is the best way round your rocker issues..

true, forget the pressure regulator you won't need it.
Some lighter conrods from the bmw parts bin, M50,M52. FLywheel, maybe some lighter slugs?
2.5's can really rev with a cam and lighter flywheel. They're a bit lethargic with the stock cam

Skim the head to raise compression ratio.
Start off with the higher compression pistons.
Cam and complementary chip would make it revvy- even this bit costs a fair bit to do thoroughly.
Did you have a budget in mind?
I have a tech 1 flywheel if you are interested.

For what you have planned for the M20 donk, by the time you have finished with all of this, you'll be about 3 grand lighter.
Unless you are a M20 bufty and all up for originality or just want the challenge of rebuilding an engine yourself, it is difficult to look past doing a 24V swap as a more cost effective means of getting better power.

skimming heads to raise the CR isn't a good idea if your fitting a high lift cam imo. I don't think its a good idea at all personally
