Blitz, looking at your plug the car only has front speakers?

red/black are power supplies, the orange is the memory i think and blue is the aerial, the double wires are for the speakers.

It has 4 speakers. On the ISO plug I've red both red and yellow wires but still no power going to the headunit. Could it be something to do with the spade connections on the red and yellow wires?

Have you checked on your car that the E30 stereo loom is plugged in on the accesory point in the glove box?

did the 4 speakers work?

You want to hardwire that picture of your ISO thing to the E30 stereo loom, it should go then. Red with red, black with black for the power

The old head unit works when I connected red to red and black to black.

The 4 speakers did work before.

Looks a mess, if i were nearer i could come and do it, but its hard to explain over the net

personally i would buy another ISO lead and cut it up and using block connectors wire it to the cars wireing, you are best to keep the naks wireloom intact

on mine ignition is red and permanent live yellow, brown or black earth, blue remote for aerial, and the speakers are the rest, although there is no speaker wiring behind mine as i have an amp, but thats pretty straight forward

Red and yellow on the Nak loom both need wiring to power, black to earth, blue(s) iirc are remote power on and arial start and the rest are speakers (8 of in 4 pairs)

I think red is permanent live (for memory etc) and yellow is switched live via the ignition.

The accessorie socket behind the glovebox has specific feeds for this.

You relise some radios wont power on without the Antenna :) , do you have both Permanent and ign lives connected.

I would cut all that crappy aftermarket wireing out as it probably confuses things

Red - Ign
Yellow - Perm Live
Yellow/Black - Speaker 1
Yellow /Brown - Speaker 1
Blue / White - Speaker 2
Blue / Black(Brown??) - Speaker 2
Brown - Ground

Thats My Guess but i cannot make out some of the wires

Try Using one of them screwdrivers with the light in, (i Use one often enough and i dont know name) :o: Electrical Tester???? to Make sure you have the IGN live and Perm Batt Live

Also if you cannot find ground, use a bit of wire screwed to the metal bit at the top of the glove box :thumb:

First things first - what model is the naka h/u that you're fitting???
Some of them can be a bastard!!!!!!

As cliffy has said above, best thing you can do if you're struggling is to grab a meter and test the wires you have in the car.

To get some action, you will need:
1. A constant live connected to the yellow wire on the h/u,
2. A switched live (comes on with the ignition) connected to the red wire on the h/u,
3. An earth connected to the black wire on the h/u.
I think the yellow and red are the right way round - if not, switch them, or put them both constant live (just means the stereo won't turn off with the ignition!).
From that, you should get something, lights, etc!! Then you can hook up speakers, rca's, whatever!!

Also, check all the fuses again (12 & 21 I think) when those three are connected up. Some of them blow really easily, no matter how careful you are!! Really, should be advising you to disconnect the battery before playing with these connections!!

You may also have an orange lead coming from the h/u - that is for the illuminations!! Pretty sure there is no wire for this on the E30, but you could take a feed from the clock or something if you really want - but test it first!! All it does is dim the display when you turn the cars lights on!

I have played with a lot of stereos and have never found one that needs anything else connected to light up!!

Where did you buy it from?? I'm guessing it wasn't a high street store!!! If it was, they'd help you out!!
You could always nip into a local place and ask them to check if it works for you!!
