My ViC check was because my touring was an import from France, all the guy was interested in was the engine number and the VIN number, plus the MoT and my cash...willnz wrote:Ha! We really live in a nanny state here! If we have to put a car that is written off back on the road, we have to get all repairs certified by a qualified panelbeater for lots of $$$, then off to the testing station where they strip it down and examine EVERYTHING minutely, more $$$. If it is non standard, it then has to go to a LV certifier for certification of the mods... more $$$$. $1000 before you can blink.![]()
I imported a LHD e36 vert from Japan, converted it to RHD, had to comply it for NZ, this inspection located some small damage underneath, had to have that certified, had to have the LHD-RHD certified etc etc. Cost me just short of $3000!!!! Seems you guys have it good over there!
The classic/old car lobby here in England is active and fights hard for us when Europe trys to impose similar legestlation to yours in NZ,bad news when your hobby falls foul of the nanny state!
