When i open the passenger door it drops down a touch, the problem is on the hinge (the pin that goes through it)

But how does the pin come out?

Image

Ive undone the 10mm bolt on the top (red arrow)
But how does the pin come out? (green arrow)
Blue arrow shows where there is play

Does it tap out or screw out? its soaking in WD40 as we speak.

Thanks (in advance)

I've got the same problem with my drivers door.
I bought the BMW hinge repair kit about 4 years ago but have never got 'round to fitting it.
I just tighten the pin every now and then.
This is why I no longer drive an E30......

Do you have a part number stu?

Ive undone the 10mm bolt but the bottom pin wont budge, does it screw out or is it tapped out?

From memory the bottom part needs drifting out but its been a while since i've done this job.
If the bottom part hasn't got a head to accept a spanner then this will be the case.
Contact Cotswold for the repair kit i'm sure they will know what you mean without the part number.

I'm pretty sure the bolt you have removed screws into the bottom part and that slot is there to stop it turning but again its been a while....

You have to pull the whole door off... Undo the bolt on both hinges get a mate to hold the back of the door while your knee under the door clost the the hinge and lift it up and off... One you have the door off lie it on a bench with something soft underneath and work from there.

Sorry Mike but removing the door is not required to repair the hinge pin.

Lower hinge, again remove bolt arrowed, should pull apart, part shown in second pic below.

Sorry for dragging this up, I just want some confirmation about the pin with the plastic slotted head. Does it drift out, or does it screw?
