Are you running an M30 AFM on an M20? I'm just interested to hear if it is a plug and play upgrade, and if it gives any noticeable improvements.
As for the boot I'm afraid I can't help you buddy.
I think Fozzy moster has done somp experimenting with various AFM's.

Well the one I got is plug and play.
Although I do know that the earlier models, u would need to modify the AFM, I think u had to use the M20 AFM Circuit board or something... None of my friends have ever had that problem with the electronics.

Still quite restrictive, I imagine M5Pilot is going to suggest MAF or some other fancy system

Hmm, well I tried heating it in water, and with my sisters hairdryer
, and neither worked, so I got my thinking cap on, and decieded to get myself a M50 328i one, gonna go and fetch it 2day, cause I know it's bigger... lets see if that works.

DO NOT BOTHER WITH AN M30 AFM.
If you're running an M20 then this is a total waste of time and infact a loss of power.
I have experimented with this on a rolling road and have the graphs to prove it. The M30 AFM lost me 11bhp. THe car is so much better with an M20 AFM. Stick with the stock item.

Do you think that the M20 AFM will not be a little restrictive on a ITB'd 2.7 Adam? What other options are there without going down the MAF route yet
Other wise I totally take your word for it, it's like the induction kits that don't work

Dunno mate but I'd try and ditch the dated mechanical flap design of the AFM for something better, this is one of the major downfalls of the M20's stock setup.Widge wrote:Do you think that the M20 AFM will not be a little restrictive on a ITB'd 2.7 Adam? One word.........................
Megasquirt!
no MAF/AFM wrongness, uses TPS and MAP for fuelling, can use the motronic ECU to look after the ignition still, makes it cheap, simple and very cost effective
under Ԛ£200 fitted and running, I have a base map if you need one too, will need a tweak but will run straight out the box

He did indeed M8.
those that say the M30 aint worth it.... remember the SA evo sports with the 2.7... yep 027( M30) AFM fitted , good enough for them, good enough for you lot
same unit also used on the M3s , it takes some time to get it right, but when you get there, you'll not go back

OK i will probably go mega squirt in the end but to keep the staring costs down, I'll be using the AFM. So using an M30 AFM which one is best aand how do you "get it right" exactly?
