Arches are a combination of smooth black hammerite and waxoyl - should've done them all in hammerite really but we ran out and didn't have time to get more!

We want to paint the outside white eventually (with M-Sport livery too), but it's going to be a runner first - then the bank account can recharge to fund a spray job!

Indeed I do, not far from Chris at all! Moving to Chester in about a month, as the mrs starts a PhD in Liverpool and it's a bit far from here.

you could just use a head gun and a rag with petrol on to get the sticky stuff off afterwards.

Keep up the work on the touring - saw a few at the ring last week and they reallly look good.

That works really well for the sound-insulation material, but the seam sealer tends to need something sharp.

A little more progress on the car - will post a couple of pics up later. Nothing major - reinstalled the pedal box and connected the brake bar and put the blower unit back in after rotating the top pipe so it clears the intake manifold. Mark's been working hard on preparing the back end of the car so that we can put the tailgate on ready to move the car to its new home next weekend. We've also spent what's seemed like 1000 hours cleaning off all the glue left behind by the masking tape that we mistakenly covered half the car with It's taken some of the lacquer off the roof, which is annoying, but given that eventually the car will have a full exterior respray it's not the end of the world.

Yep - cheap, and i've read good things about them (i.e. good value for money). We thought we'd keep the brake upgrades relatively simple for now (new lines, new fluid, caliper refurb, standard-ish discs, decent track pads) and save up for for a proper big-brake conversion later in the car's life. Rear discs are standard, solid ones.

Sounds like you've done exactly the same as I have (braking-wise) to my touring.

We haven't got them yet, but when we do it'll be either Pagid Blues or Yellows or Ferodo DS2500s.

I went for EBC yellows.
If you can afford them, go Pagid. I couldn't recommend them enough (although I haven't driven a Pagid equipped BMW).

We had to get the car back on its wheels so that it was ready for the house move, which is this week, and I'd not ordered the new ones. It's something we'll sort out when we're doing the whole braking system - it's all off the car at the moment, going to be refurbishing the calipers and replacing all the lines.

I bought new ones from Costwold BMW last month and they come in at a bargain-tastic £14 each-ish IIRC.

Yeah sorry for lack of any progress at all in the last months - been a bit busy, as caneswell points out. The car is sitting in the garage, awaiting some welding to the fuel tank before we sort the brakes. Now that summer is looming, it'll be a nice distraction when Mark and I need a break from all things nautical! Rest assured we're going to be back on the case in a few weeks time - I want to get that car running before the end of the summer!
