Sender unit, or most likely the nut on the cluster behind the guage can work loose, so tighten it and see how you go from there.

If you have two senders (one in the fuel pump, the other alone on the other side of the tank), when one breaks it can make the fuel guage crazy. If the light is coming on when it should, it suggests the one in the fuel pump is working ok; take out the other one (round hatch, under rear bench, passenger side), and do a resistance check on it. The resistance wire inside can break and short out on the aluminium housing, causing the sender to massively over-read.
Same problem with mine too...
Fuel gauge works right sometimes and sometimes it could be at the 1/4 mark at half way
Didn't bother me too much as the range function on the OBC works properly but would be nice to find out why it does it anyway.
It's definitely a clock fault as other clusters work fine.
How about you just give me the clocks out of the 320 Paddy seeing as I wouldn't really mind a funny fuel guage
