By a 316i!!!

Standard 70K M40b16 316i against a 318iS with a Evolve chipped 100K 93' M42 with possibly an M20 flywheel.

316 was able to stay on it's bumper from around 30-80mph

Mollox.

The iS driver must have been overwhelmed by the power at his disposal and never changed out of first gear.

Hmm, the iS was detailed by Feens the day before the meet so with all the polishing he did it's quite possible the body was heavier after it
Only real difference in weight would be the iS having a large case diff and coil-overs as the 316 also had a Sport cloth interior and vented front and rear discs from the factory for some odd reason

But no, that's not the reason :D

Both drivers were changing gear properly, I was passenger in the iS so no reason to be
Actually I think we might have been doing 40mph initally and just dropped to third and then the 316 stayed with the iS all the way until 80 when the 316 had to change again and iS had another 500rpm to go and pulled away well then in 4th.

i find that very hard to belive, my 316i wasnt much quicker than my 1.0 3cyl corsa, and the IS was way way quicker than my corsa

engine was obviosly fooked/needed a service

i timed a 0-60 on mine today 0-60 in 7.9 seconds winkeye

8 seconds if you want to be pickey  :D

i cannot see any 316i doing that 8O

316's aint all that bad. Both cars are 1.8L. the 316i is a 1.6L.

Normal 318i are still only just (marginally) off the iS. But seriously, did the 316 also have a passanger? 8O

I went from a standard 316 for a year to a chipped and remapped iS and thought it was a rocket too :D

Made 150bhp on the rollers a month ago!!!

surely somebody will figure out how a 316 was able to accelerate as fast as a car with an engine touched by Zeus :P

316 was originally an auto alright but he kept the diff.
Also had BBS 15"s 205/50s while the iS had 205/40 R17 on BKs

Being taken off the road now soon to get an M42 and maybe an LSD unit so should be pretty quick then!!!

Chip, remap, heater plate, K&N filter, short-shifter, 4.1 LSD

I used the OBC too, Not very accurate but good to 2 or 3 tenths of a second I suppose.

Yeah, I'm making my own BBTB soon.

BMW filter is better flowing, K&N probably has better filtration properties and obviously lasts alot longer.

the only good thing about an iS is the gearbox in an M50 conversion..

Dave.. I need not tell you what you need. I have confirmation from another ex iS owner than an m50'd e30 is a much better car than any 4 potter
