I know a guy in Germany who builds special E21's and he won't touch anything that needs paint or has been painted. He buys low mileage minters (nearly always Granny owned 316's), fits a decent suspension kit, restored BBS split rims, a period Momo/Nardi wheel and a double carburettor kit - a pair of new Webers on a stock M40 works quite well with the right chokes and jets. None of this ruins the car, they are all period mods that were done when the cars were new and it's all reversible. Drilling holes and screwing on some shite bodykit proves that ruining nice original cars is a zone 'must'.
That needs a good suspension kit with a 30mm drop, some suitable rims and some tweaking on the M10. A bodykitted M5/ powered E30? How unimaginative.

Looks very nice and very similar to mine, same age, no radio or speakers, but less miles and bit better body (not much tho
) - keep fit windows, steering and sunroof !
BTW - you said it was completely standard - is the front trim (below fogs) with the 5 screws standard as I have this on mine and was told by the local dealer that it wasn't as I was after the clips on either side and we couldn't find the part number ?

Previously owned loads of old E30s, E34s, a few E36s, E32s, E39s and an E38.
Currently in a diesel Audi - miss me old E30's....

I wouldn't fit the tech 1 kit,drilling cherry sills
but a slam and engine transplant is what that car was saved for.

Not sure, my 84 Henna Red had vents in that piece and that was very very standard, no central locking even.fingerman wrote:Looks very nice and very similar to mine, same age, no radio or speakers, but less miles and bit better body (not much tho) - keep fit windows, steering and sunroof !

Leaving it on would be different from the crowd too. I've been working on the C2 this week, while doing it I've been admiring the Cirrus blue chromie I've got sat here. They're a fine looking thing really, especially when you're sick of looking at tech II stuff.
I'm strongly considering getting it back on the road but maybe splashing out and fitting a set of minty 15" BBS - I know what you're thinking, I'm a trendsetter, yes I know.
Andy does make a good point though.
Either way that black car looks the tits. Nice find Dan

Perhaps with some nice 19" rimz that would look good Dan. Give it a try. It would go with your E36 engine, but wait, have you thought about just buying an e36?
Maybe you should join www.e36coupe.com (and never come back here suggesting things like that)

The E36 sides are quite nice, especially on a pre-facelift.
Maybe I should just overload it with chrome, contrasts well with the black

Theres a chip on Ebay that gives you an extra 10bhp, that would kick Andy's old Evo's arse at 240+hp, I know its only 2hp but every little counts

Remember to fold the rear seats down to save weight!!!
I think it would be cool to leave the outside untouched. Like they do in the VDub scene. Almost a 'cali' look e30, lots of chrome, but with the ponies to make it worth driving :evei:

they never make the power or very rarely you should know that! and are sadly lacking the grunt compared alsoAndyboy wrote:My Sport Evo had 238 bhp, so it's old news to me.......DanThe wrote:100hp Vs 230+hp

Yes they do. It's the badly maintained shitbags with incorrect valve clearances, tired cap/rotor, wrongly gapped plugs and Tecso lawnmower fuel that don't make the grade.
Until you've actually driven a good Sport Evo, you'll not know how quick they are.

Lovely motor and a great find. Sleeper sounds good, just the thing to gob-smack smart-arses in their jelly mould fart boxes

Got a set of e36 side's here. already modded to fit an e30 if you were serious dan
Go ahead and mod it all out if thats what you want to do dan, looks a good base rather than spending god knows how much trying to get a rough one tidy enough

Ok guys finally got round to taking some pics, here is how it now stands

Rather tight down here..

Anybody got a Nardi wheel centre/horn for sale?
Recaro's have also had a re-vamp

Also had it on the dyno for the first time today, clocked up the first 1000 miles the other day and dumped the Asda value oil in favour of some 5W30
I used Hi-Tech Motorsport in Cradley Heath, power at the wheels = 203hp and 188Lbft
The graph doesnt show engine hp but after a quick look through his book and weighing up what transmission/diff I have he estimated a power loss of 40-44hp, so 243hp and 230ish torque
There is plenty of room for improvement with some proper mapping, the engine is still making power when it hits the limiter, its caught me out a few times this week
The guy also said he thought it was pinging (due to the comp raise) so its now on a strict diet of super unleaded
Engine spec is as follows -
M52B28 crank, rods/pistons fully balanced with front pulley, lightweight flywheel and clutch cover, all built into an M50 Iron block which has been skimmed, acid cleaned and bores honed.
Head is from an E36 Alpina C2 2.5 complete with pina cams
M50 inlet manifold with a BBTB
Proper air filter
M52 tubular exhaust manifolds, only the front one has been modded to miss the crossmember/steering rack
All running on M52 management

Total weight of flywheel/clutch is 11kg!

There is a lot more to it which I cant be arsed to go into at the moment, but all in all im very happy with the outcome

Actually Ollie, I did find some rust.....
Underside of the Offside front chassis rail

Luckily, my hands were a bit oily and it wiped off with my finger
