i'm looking in to doing an engine conversion on my 1990 318IS problem is although i have the skills to do such a job i dont have the knowledge so i'm hoping to gain some really good info over the next few months.

My first problem is deciding what engine to go for M50 or M52??

I'm after the most stright forward conversion as i'm not doing this for performance gains i just really like the idea of a modern low miles engine in my E30.

Any help is much appriciated

Thanks

Rob

I prefer the M50 they are a little heavier than the m52 but dont have any nikasil problems.
I put a M50 B25 into my 320i and it made a hugh difference , better on juice and smoother .
If you do go M52 make sure you go B28 and change manifold to m50 type .
there is loads of info on here in M50 developments thread .
Here is a link to my conversion on another site .

If you were closer to me id of give you a hand mate

but leicester is a bit of a jaunt for be,

'Danthe' is in cannock and in my opinion he is the M50/52 guru, theres not a lot he doesnt know about these engines and im sure if you asked him nicely he would point you in the right direction,

Good luck with it!
