hi people
iv just started my m30 conversion today.... :D :D
to me looking from underneath the engine (with a two poster ramp)it will be easy to drop the engine out from the bottom(with the box and subframe still attached) with the aid af few trolley jacks!!.. rather then lifting out....and hopefully putting the m30 engine the same way....

few quick questions if can be anwser asap  well b4 tomorow

1.. how deos the engine wiring come out/can it be left on when dropping the engine out or will it need be removed separtely.

2...im not sure what rad im gonna go with yet... is it possible to put the rad in after m30 engine is in or advisable to put it in before the engine goes in pending on wat rad im going with.(engine will be in postion 3)

3... 4 speed box from a 633ci or 5 speed from e28 528?/ which is better

4...the gear shifter is it easy to change when the engine and box is in.

5...and do i have to remove the the covers(i think its sound proofing or heat proof covers) on the bulk head

thanks

You can drop an engine out from underneath by droping the subframe

1,by engine wiring do you mean the engine loom?

2,rad goes in once the engine is in place

3,5 speed

4,as in the gear stick, then yes

5,ive heard people have had to 'massage' the bulkhead to get the M30 in,but some havent

to get the engine out you need to dissconect everything from around it

remove ecu from under the dash then push the loom through the baulkhead, dissconnect the round plug next to the fuse box, relays, earth strap, everything connecting the engine to the car.

clutch slaves are a favorite to forget

today i went to collect the m30 engine from mike gaynor from derby ...it took almost 6 hours there and back ,i was expecting max of 3 hours
as soon as i got back i dropped the engine to my work place and got starting on removing the engine.... removed all the relvent things and dropped the engine out :D with the subframe almost two hours of elbow grease on my own thats enough for 1 day for me.
tomorrow plan is to get the m30 engine ready, massage the bulk head and get the welder out ,to weld the battery tray and the nearside front strut mounting point(nx to the fuse box) theres rust around there . Then hopefully putting the engine in.
few quick questions....
1.. deos any one have a 325 gear shiffter and linkage? or its better to buy a short shift kit
2..will i be able to use a 320 gear box mount on a e28 box?
3... i need a exhaust manifold for this which 1 will be suitable or any ideas??
4.. if i was to get power stearing which rack would be suitable
thanks
