i have picked up the M112 eaton charger and im going to be fabricating a adaptor to fit it to the back of the M30 inlet plenum, im just wondering if i could get a crank pulley to match the pulley on the charger. (or get one made)
iv worked out that it will need to be 1.7 times bigger than the charger pulley size.

just need to find out the distance from pulley to pulley so i can line them up and get the charger fitted.

long process.

thanks
ben

the charger is a eaton M112 from a V12 jag.
im still yet to find a suitable pulley for the engine side. (abit of advice on that)

On the Eaton M45's we've used a crank pully from an M43 and a spacer, not sure how compatable it is with your engine or charger though.

i was hoping to keep the flat belt type pulley instead of the `v` type. its got a real long reach on the charger which helps a lot but its a pain because i want to get on and get it fitted but i need to find a pulley to measure and line it up from, (from engine to charger)

im crap at explaining so im sorry for that, im doing my best.

I'll have a measure of the pulley tonight.

The charger is just in place for a short while untill I get enough dough for a twin screw charger.

Really want the e30 on the road for this summer. Alot yet to do.

Talk to nigel aka alloyproducts on here he has my m30 engine and is making some custom pulleys, so he could profably make the brakcets and pulleys to fit the charge in one go.

Are you gonna fit a charge cooling panel between the 'charger and the manifold? :D

I'll do a search on here In sec and get hold of him, that will be underway then :D

As for the cooling panel I was thinking of making one out of diavic but I'm all ears for ideas.

I was hoping to do a complete post of the build but there is a few already and I'm still gathering pictures and info/help

Cheers

Right the charger pulley is about 32mm.
To get the charger at the right speed for what I need I'll need a pulley 1.7 times bigger for the engine side of things. If that makes sense.

I'm thinking of running around 1 bar but at this stage I'm not certain. Really as much as I can run. Power/ reliable type of thing.
Up for sugestions though.

i reckon a charge cooler is going to be first thing your going to need, and also some kind of engine management system. :)

Well I was going to use a megasquirt which I was going to pick up cheap. winkeye
As for the cooler I was going to use a large (or as big as I can) intercooler. I think the charge cooler route will be a right pain.

The pulley side of things I'm not sure if I'll be lucky enough to find the right size and width I'll have a good old look though.

I'll work out what size I'll be looking for.

you wont be able to cool the charge with it mounted there. you could still mount it there but i think you should keep the boost a bit lower than 1 bar to keep the inlet air temps low. are you going to reduce the compression a bit.

ah very good point. back to the drawing board with that one then. possibly mount it lower and add more pipe work to the intercooler then to the manifold.
i have sent the head into the machine shop to check if it needs to be skimmed. hopefully not because i dont need to use such a large head gasket. but ya i want to lower the compression abit. still something i need to work out by how much.

Fantastic stuff, I'm liking this! 8)

Could you please tell me who those rockers are from, they look very much like standard ones, higher lift..?

The rockers are from irland engineering. The rockers have a thicker body so won't snap in the usual place. I can run a high lift with these.

That company has lots and lots of stuff for m30.

alittle update...

head has been sent away to be port & polished and then built so while that been going on iv been cleaning the bottom end and trying to source a suitable head gasket.

only problem iv come across is trying to get the main nut off the end of the crank so i can change the timing chain and tensioner. i just cant keep the bugger from moving while i try the undo it. iv even tried adding beer to the pa-lava.

any ideas on this?

a couple of pics....

I welded a bit of bar to a spare pully that bolts to the crank pully, then rested it on the floor and gave the nut/bolt some abuse from a 3/4 braker bar, did the trick. :D

O and if you do weld a bar across the pully, dont forget to weld the bar off centre so you can get the socket to the nut.

Not like the my first attempt
