Loving it, keep the progress coming and the spec would be good for a skeet (Manx for look btw :) )

Will take some more pics tonight and post up....

Cage is now painted and fitted, going to bolt up with 8.8 bolts tonight
Sunroof closure panel is also fitted and painted in brilliantrot
Dash and instrument cluster is back in
Bonnet pins fitted
Wheels being repainted in anthracite

Need to do before BMWCC GB trackday at Oulton Park on Friday 13th Feb (apart from the above)!
Connect up FX and FIA switch
Seal up burnt underseal after fitting cage
Paint arches underneath
Fit and set up/cornerweight GAZ suspension
Fit polybushes
Fit braided hoses and new pads/discs
...er, so not then before the 13th! :?

Spec will be full PBMWC spec (when it races, NOT for the 13th!)

More pics to follow....
Oh, and it will still have the M40 1.6 for the trackday.... :x

Thanks for the comments everyone, I'm just itching get out in it again!
:D

Thanks Jimmy,

I have ordered a Cobra 'eared seat' through the drivers deals, just have not got around to fitting it thats all!

BTW. I have used the FIA seat belt mounting brackets in the rear bulkhead.
Do you think/know whether I need any other re-inforcement or are the FIA brackets (2 of) ok on their own?

Ta,
Ste.
Hi Ste, flat steel bar running behind the bulkhead, drill it to match the holes for the mounting points on the bulkhead. Min you will get away with is about an 8" piece to cover the two mounting points, better if you bend a long bit to run across the full width as it then picks up the stronger uprights. If you use long bolts initially, it pulls into the shape you want it quite easily and the scroots will be happier.

Cheers
Brian

Ste, looking good. Would you (or someone else with the same setup) be able to post some more detailed pics of the harness mounts please? Pretty please lol! Not happy with my low down mountings for the harnesses, would rather they were done properly.

Thanks

Hmmm... You wont want to hear this but those lap belt fixing points look to far forward to me as well.

Have a look in the blue book, the belt needs to come up from behind at a given angle which I'm not sure you have there.

What have the scrutineers said about your cage being for a left hand drive car not right?

If nothening maybe worth getting another bar welded in.

There is a welded in diagonal from the drivers head side of the hoop to the passenger side rear as per normal 6 point cages so would pass Ok with this, the bolt in diagonal and cross bar is just an added extra to what is necessary to pass scrutineering. PBMW (but not MSA) regs originally specced an extra diagonal or cross brace for 6 point cages, but this requirement was dropped last year.

Brian28,
Managed to get hold of some 6mm x 40mm steel for the rear seatbelts re-inforcements so I'll let you know how I get on over the B.Holiday!

Black_Potato,
Just checked the BBook and they should be 65 deg so will check later, thanks. BTW, Im not out at Donington so could you bring my discs to Oulton Park in August if you dont mind holding on to them? Ta.

Jamese30,
Thanks for comments, its been a while since you have seen her in the flesh! You need to start posting some pics of yours :D

Well, it was a lovely day yesterday and I got to spend some proper time on the car in the sun!(albeit mostly underneath!)

Now I know that this is a racecar and wont spend much of its time on salty winter roads, but coming from a background of mini's and seeing some of the pics on here, I decided that a bit of 'preventative' work would'nt go amiss before I'm left with an expensive lump of iron oxide!

Looks great mate. Interesting that those powerflex trailing arm bushes are two piece items. The superflex ones I bought the other day ar single piece??!

Will try and get some pics of mine posted this weekend after a good days work on it on Saturday.... winkeye
