Here's a couple of random pics, I was going to take loads and document stuff, but frankly couldn't be arsed (was too busy drinking tea & joining in the slagging). Michelle reckons we got through about 40-50 tea bags yesteray lol

Some pics of the offending manifold

A pic of the general scrapyard theme going on and a mate of mine in his power ranger suit (he popped through from Teesside for a wee while just to join in the pish taking)

The problem with the replacement fuel tank once the surface rust had been rubbed a bit

Bob making the best of a bad job by giving the original fuel tank a couple of coats of hammerite, will hopefully keep the MOT man off my back for a couple of years.

Image Rear manifold is the upper one here, you can see how number 6 curves forward away from the bulkhead,it's a complete contrast to Lee's photo above.

have you got another pic of those manifolds Malcolm with them facing flange side down so I can see the route that rear primary takes?

ALso, what is the score with your collection of other M52 manifold bits, have you just got the scrap thing I gave you or have you also got the ones you started modifying?

Here's a couple of pics taken today in daylight of the underside of the car

Some finishing off in the undersealing dept needed and a clean up of a few bits needed, plus fit the new fuel pipes I picked up from the stealers
Image
Passenger side arch/turret, awaiting a clean up whilst the struts are off etc
Image
Driver side, ditto
Image
More underseal awaited, new tank protector plates in place, guarding a very used tank :)

Gearbox all mounted up properly, prop & heatshield back where they belong (instead of the garage floor)

Image Manifold laid out, hang on a bit,I have one from the top of the engine bay as well... I have your original front mani/pipe slightly modded to fit,I have a rear one based on your original that fits using a fresh manifold. This pair can be seen in the comparison photos and on the car in my thread,BUT,they blow from every joint due to my poor welding.I have an untouched(apart from slicing the flange off) front manifold.Just off to photobucket for that other piccie, wish I could put up multiple piccies!

I still want to know if ^ would clear an E36 rack.

Lee I'm sure if you bought the one that fits but leaks off daimlerman it could be leakproofed during the next "meet"! :D

Seem to remember Fritz saying that it will clear an E36 rack, but would be best for you to see for yourself sometime. Not sure what rack 12345Kevin is using,he has a Fritz mani as well.

There's a piccy on my thread of several.
if it turns out you need one of these lee then i have one getting in my way, just let me know if you need it.

will have to keep an eye out in case you have a repeat weekend, sounds like a laugh and ill be up for it if i can make it.

Right, I've heard back from the dude I got the S50 manifold from and he said he did bash the bulkhead to the right of the steering column tube captive nut.

Just waiting to hear what mounts he was using, but to be honest I'm thinking very much about giving it the good news with a lump hammer. I mean if it'd good enough for Hartge to give similar treament on Theo's weapon then it's good enough for a cat c £130 ebay turd, yeah?

What do those who had their heads under my bonnet think?

Lee I think you are giving an open invitation to cancer with that idea.. in cost relation, option 2 as we discussed is probably better for you imo.. I will be looking at mine soon in which case there is another molested one for grabs with weld babies attached..

It's not that much bother to remove that bit of heat shield and cut away some sound proofing though is it?

As much as the mani is nice lee, it might be worth seeing if someone can sort the pipe out, find out what buster did to his and get it modded.. If you come to break the car it would be a very desirable morcel to be serving on especially as the price of s50's fall!

yeah I hear what you say mate, gonna make a call to a guy I know and see if he can realistically do something in a relatively short space of time. If not then I'll be going down the M52 route I guess.

Tell you what, this turd had better get down the road OK after all this fanny on :)

Um,pedal box? Greatest respect but sound deadening is there for a purpose...afterall,the exhaust is on the drivers side, not like you are muffling the passengers screams...

even with the sound deadening removed it aint going to fit.Smacking the shit out of the panel might get it in but i don't think it will. And its so close to where the steering rod comes out.

Bending the bulkhead is a bad idea, and from what I saw Ithink it would take a fair ammount of modification to make it fit :(

cheers Dan, leg end

Should it be a relatively easy mission for a competent welder to adjust that back pipe on mine below to roughly the same as yours? Am I playing with fire taking a pic to someone with the manifold and not getting it done on the car?
