I'm gonna stop being lazy and try and sort out my drivers door lock which is jammed in the lock position.

In order to make my life easier does anyone know how you remove the barrel and what normally causes them to jam ??

Any help would lead to a peaceful homelife this weekend....

mine did this not so long back. quite easy to remove

remove the door trim, locate the back of the barel and remove the plug which may be attached
there should be a flat clip which hlods the barel tight to the door, this can be removed with a large flat headed screwdriver.
make sure you recognise which way round the barrel comes out.
spray with loads of wd40.
reverse the above for refitting

WD40 is a penetrating oil and will remove all traces of lubricant from the lock and it will only work for a while before it seizes again.

Go to a good locksmith and get some graphite powder and spary it into the keyhole that should help.

Failing that get a new key cut, It's cheaper than the Ԛ£40 for a new coded lock.

When you've got the lock barrel assembly out, check that the over centre pivoted bit at the back end moves freely.
Insert the key and turn it both ways while holding the outer barrel. End bit should flip from side to side.

Well I gave it my best shot !!! The barrel is absolutely fine. The problem lyes with the locking mechanism. When you turn the key it moves a lever up and down which is supposed to sit nice and neatly between this fork type thingy which activates the lock. This fork type thingy is no longer secure so I keeps jamming and locking up the barrel.

The only option in to replace the whole door catch and not the barrel.

All I can say is BIG UP TOURINGDADDY for popping over at the drop a hat to give me a hand.

Before you ask - No it's not sorted yet, and yes my door is still in bits, but DADDY is supplying all the neccessary bits..

It's a fairly common problem for the door locking mechanism to get dodgy, mine occasionally got stuck.

BMW actually do a 'door locking repair kit' which has the necessary bits to renew the locking mechanism and it basically renews the lock - it's cheap as chips and seems to do the job.

Mind you all the others solutions seem to have worked.
