I've booked - see you all there!

Right, list to do on the 2.7 turd;
fit LSD
Oil & filter
New PAS pump & fluid
get tracking checked/adjusted
fit Eibach ARB's (buy new droplinks & bushes)
fit a set of 15" BBS & sort out some decent tyres - I dont fancy using the perished yingyongyangs I have in stock!

Any suggestions on where to get tyres and Eibach ARB bushes from??

Edit- front brake pads too, any recomendations?
The car has Eurocarpart special grooved discs, which I robbed from a different car. I won't bother to change these as they are hardly used......

Might strip some of the interior too to save weight, Jon your 205 is in trouble!! winkeye

Good man!

Pads, EBC reds or yellows?
Tyres, try camskills?
Roll bars, try europerfomance?

See you there!

Looks like a good mixture of E30`s.

If +/- 120 is top then I will change to the shorter diff ratio

List of things to do,

1. change diff
2. Check all fluids
3. Check / change Brake pads
4. Give it a wash
5. Check weather forecast night before
6. Load relevant tyres / fuel
7. Pack a lunch and Liquid refreshments

Does anyone know if you are allowed vid cameras on board, and how strictly are the noise limits enforced. Not worried about the exhaust, its just the induction when you are galloping along a bit.

Look forward to meeting you all and hopefully it will be a sunny day.

Cheers,

Dave

quite a lot of vids on youtube of the airfield day so would of thought as long as it's not going to fly around the place it would be fine, noise limits about 100db iirc

There were no restrictions on video cameras at Abingdon as long as they were properly secured, quite a few cars had them in and have posted on the web..
For noise they limit at 100dB(A)... 1 car failed when we were last there so couldnt take part..
The only thing they wouldnt let us do was time a lap, as that implies competition!.. "its a track day and not a race!" is what they told us but there were some cars were very evenly matched for a lap or 4..

Looking forward to it.. although beginning to feel a bit concerned about all the special E30's turning up.. ours is just a standard 325i but feel that might change..

Don't worry, I'll be well behind you in the (mechanically at least) standard 318

My 205 is in trouble with out your help! I've been trying to work out if the whole front end of my car is bent today...thankfully not :) It has positive  camber on the NSF wheel and a degree of negative on the OSF wheel. I was expecting a bent strut, subframe or car...but I think it is a very worn top mount bearing. Changing it tomorrow wil confirm. LSD is still in its packaging...

Video cameras are fine as long as its not the passenger holding it 8O I need to sort out a mount for the 205 really...

Tommo, pads: I would really rate EBC yellows, I think they are fairly cheap for a 325 caliper as well. You won't fade them, you'll boil the fluid before that happens.

Dave do you know the DB of your car? I suspect it will be totally fine as its just a static test. They did pull in a porsche turbo that passed the static one but was excessively loud down the straight. It just got noise tested again, passed with a 97.7 out of a 100! :D Most cars make it easy, ours does about 88DB but is stupidly loud with load on it. 8)

My list is getting longer, not shorter. :?

Will have a look at these yellow ones, sound good.
Cheers for the camskill link - good site that!
Will check europerformance at work in the morning, I did have them in mind for the bushes.

I dug the ARB's out the garage earlier and found they are both 3way adjustable, I thought Eibach's were only 2 way on the back? Will have a proper look/measure in the morning.....

That made me chuckle! :)

Come on Gareth, do it!
Ta much. Would love to but I'm out can't (at the moment) get time off!

If the situation changes I'll see if I can get in as a spectator, would love to see the mighty 205. But unlikely. Would love some zone support for my first crash in the track slag.

T1r's are the best you'll get for under £50 a tyre. Although some 195/50 r888's arn't hugely more expensive...

Gareth, its mostly unmighty, in fact I am half way through bodging a sunroof plate on. Nice! On the up side, au revior to 10 kilos off the top of the car.

Jon BMW,

The car was 102 db with the single GpN pipe I had on, but have changed it for a scorpion which is a lot quiter. I have managed Bedford before who are quite strict on noise so should be alright. Do they have any noise beacons around the airfield ????

Turkey,

What time you planning on leaving ?

Checked the brakes all round and gave it a wash, fired straight up after its winter slumber, also check all fluids as well, so besides changing the diff ( going shorter ), and loading her on the trailer with all the spare tyres, its already to go.

Which is the best route from Essex, M40 or M4 as M25 morning traffic is pants that time of day.
May just have to leave extra early to get off the 25 before it builds up.

cheers,

Dave

If its done bedford it will be fine.

You guys will have to leave quite early, aim to get there between 8.30-8.45 for a stress free journey.

Sunroof nearly plated up now, and i've got the open diff out(sounds easy, it wasn't with the box still attached  )

As I`m towing I will leave a lot earlier than that,( 05.30 ) latest can`t be arsed with all the W---ers out there in the morning traffic :x , especially with a trailer. All you need is one accident and you could end up sitting for most of the day :( . I`m up to birmingham on Thursday for work so may go the M40 and see. You ideally want to be off the M25 by 7.00am though :D Can always pull into a services for a relaxing stress free nap or for a bite once the 25 is behind you.

Can`t be as bad as towing to Oulton Park, drive all day, then tow back home again all in the same day, however the drive back is relaxing as you are mellowed out having just had your speed fix for the day. I must be Nucking Futs  , but have done this on a few occations.

Oh well roll on the 27th and am looking forward to it. winkeye

Cheers,

Dave

I cant seem to find a website that lists EBC Yellows for the E30 :? I've looked at motorsportworld & europerformance, even the EBC site does not list them for the E30 ? ?

Can anyone point me in the right direction for these please and a ballpark figure on the cost too would be helpful :)

Its hard work, it took me ages to find them for my 205. I am making progress on your 325. Is there only onw caliper type for a 325? IE not girling or bendix?

According to this site:

http://www.modacar.com/manufacturer/EBC ... +Pads.html

You need:

DP4779

Pad shape and dimension:

Tom, I am pretty sure DP4779 is the right pad.

Basically, there standard fit is dp779, green is dp2779, red is dp3779, yellow is dp4779.

Interesting all are available from here, but you have to maually put the part numbers in:

http://www.ebcbrakesdirect.com/search/d ... car&t1=pad

You can also choose blue stuff(dp5779), but you won't need these even with the mighty 12v.

Yep, no worries. If I don't answer its because I am in a lecture or something.

I need DP4426 as I won't remember the number tomorrow. I'll sort you out the monies at the trackday, or before if I pick them up.

TRACKDAY IS FULL according to their site. If you are still keen, ring them up and you may get on.

You can do it on the day, its £10 iirc. £20 for a driver.

Yep, order my set as well, you have to select the cheaper postage option(48 hours) and its free. :)

Your right there bout getting the M25 out the way early, bad enough sitting there in the work van let alone my noise box and the worry of over-heating before even getting there!

Looks like an early night before and leave early then! Can't come soon enough at the moment, just hope it don't get cancelled over weather!

Did you get the suspension on Winx?

The LSD is on, the top mount bearing replaced, the sunroof is plated(very council, make sure you look at my bodging on the 27th) Brakes fluid changed.

Test drove it for the first time tonight, bearing in mind you are supposed to only use it lightly for the first 50 miles then do another £18 oil change :? Its fucking brilliant, au revior wheelspin, hello grip. It pulls you through corners nicely 8)

Also found out why it is tugging to the left when off the throttle and on the brakes, the NSF caliper is binding on :? There is always something to be doing on this frigging car. Luckerly I have recently refurbished a spare set I had, excuse the fact they are red, some other monkey painted them like that. :P
