i saw this car in the Ebay section so emailed the seller and went to have a look "in the flesh" today. my observations were thus:

seller: a decent pleasant chap, good communication

engine: as ebay pic but i couldn't "fire her up" as the seller said there was no battery available

interior: clean and tidy iS cloth checked interior with no obvious wear and tear in the usual places noticed, black headlining, the clock was missing, check control, speedo reading 185k iirc, broken n/s opening rear window catch, r/s/b retainers required.

bodywork: slightly rusty rear arches (surface rust rather than rot), bottoms of front wings rusty (need replacing really), rusted bootlid (needs replacing), o/s sill fairly rotten under skirt, n/s not too bad, floor pan looked ok as far as i could see.

exterior: paintwork (zinnober red (?) ) faded, but not beyond a good t-cutting. no sunroof.

wheels: genuine hartge, need slight refurb,. a couple of tyres needed.

in my opinion this car has to be saved not scrapped as it is a very rare E30 and we want as many a good variety on the zone as poss (opinions?), but it boils down to the usual ratio of time/money/effort expended against pride/value of the end product.

the b.i.n. price was £1500. he said he'd had an offer of £950 so far.

what do you think chaps? :?: :?
if anyone is interested, then you are welcome to phone me about viewing it/questions, etc. :)

Perfect. Hartge, needs some attention (because we enjoy fixing them, even though we complain about it) and isn't too badly priced. Do check that it starts and drives first though.

I remember when this was for sale in essex a couple of years ago and one of the few bits of information I managed to extract from the moron selling it was that it doesn't have a dogleg gearbox, is this correct? I think the car used to have air conditioning as well, any bits of that left?

Did you check for an LSD? Did it have the Hartge 6 branch? What condition was the gearknob in?

If that is a genuine Hartge rear strutbrace please sell it to me if you buy the car winkeye
If i had space i'd buy this car without a doubt because even if it proved too be a complete shitter/uneconomical to repair you would still be able to get your ££££ back by just selling the bits and wheels...
