Should i ditch the alpina reps for 15" bbs?

As above should i ditch the 17" alpina reps for some 15" bbs? Pretty sure i'd be able to get someone on ebay to buy the alpina reps for more than the 15s will cost me.

other thought was to get the alpina reps refurbed in gunmetal.

same as me, i've wanted an e30 on alpinas or reps for years but now i've got one i was thinking it may drive better on the 15s. Plus with my e30 being a cab i'll probably sell it on in the summer so surely the bbs will have a greater sale value on the car than the with the alpinas.

Keep the bk's for winter as it won't matter if you kill em on a kerb and then the bbs for when it get's warmer.

on a seperate note hubble i started to machine polish the old cabbie at the weekend. it's going to take a while! think i might have to wetsand the whole thing and go from there.

It is tempting. a nice gunmetal set would look different. at least then i'm admiting that i know they're not genuine alpinas.

Bloody hell wet sanding! Be careful. Are you sure it needs it? Have you done it before?

I've done a few small areas on mine to remove some scratches - Fantastic results.

The BBS are a bitch to keep clean but if you keep on top of them they become easier over time.
Good choice to protect them in some kind of sealant too. I've never used Poorboys but have used Swissvax Wheel Wax.

There's a lot of prepping involved but the longevity of the wax is great. Repels water a treat.

yeah have wetsanded several cars. this def needs it. i want an ultra clear finish. have got a ptg to take readings all over and plot before starting. i run a detailing company part time ;)

I've been Detailing as a hobby for the last few years as well, but wetsanding is something I only do in case of an emergency. A friend of mine recently brought his 911 over for a full detail. There were plenty of swirls which the G220 got out but some scratches needed wetsanding. Needless to say I was a little nervous at first as you can imagine but after plenty of patience I removed all the scratches and saved him from going in for a re-spray

That's how i started fella. Still learning a lot so not teaching me to suck eggs mate. Just trying to grow some bigguns to make the jump to working for myself.

Yup wetsanding is a big jump to take. takes a lot of time and patience. would love to see some pics of the work on the 911 will keep you posted on the progress with the cab.

There's some serious money to be made in it as you know, but the way the economy is a the moment I doubt people are spending on having their cars cleaned. I know a few time valeters who have gone a little quiet over the last few months. One has gone over to Australia for six months as well just to try something new.

As for the 911 I'll upload some pics for you. Give me 5 mins...

There you go. Washed and clayed using Zaino and Zymol products.
Wax - Swissvax Shield. Very easy to apply and remove with excellent results.
The interior wasn't too bad. Zymol leather cleaner and a few other products.

sounds like the bbs are def the way to go.

porsche looks cracking hubble. nice to see the wax applied by bare hand. seen a few people do that but forget to take their rings off doh!

I voted yes, but why restrict yourself to BBS, there are lots of nice 15" alloys that suit the E30, not that im bias or anything

my choice was pina reps or 15" bbs,,,i got 16" pina reps and they look well on my car,
i don't like 17" as they crash over every little hole or divot.

so i voted bbs,,,as you don't say 16" pinas.
