I have a complete set of bits from an old 525tds - turbo, manifold, intercooler etc. Is it of any use for an M20? The turbo is quite small.

The gearbox's are supposedly perfect to put plenty of torque through.

would the manifold be any use for an M50 in an E30 with a snail on top or do folks reckon there wouldn't be enough room?

Are the exhaust ports on a tds anywhere near the same size/ spacing as the M50 head?

The manifold can be used on an m20, but the turbo exit is uncommon, its a 3 bolt design which some small mitshibishi turbos use. Td04/5 iirc. The head to manifold ports line up like a goodun though, so if you could convert the '3 stud' exit to t3/4 it could be useful?

Problem is, this day and age so many foriegn companies make up cheap 'stainless' alternatives I am not sure of their purpose anymore?

No, they use an M20 style two bolt flange.

The ebay mnifolds are so cheap most are sucked into buying them, they're not bad but there are better.

The td/tds turbo's are way to small and aren't holset qaulity so would melt with the temps petrol puts out. ( I sound like a holset snob, LOL )

If you get stuck with the bits let me know, my oilburner 325td could do with an IC and new turbo, it's gutless!! Have been told the IC alone is worth 20/30bhp, having driven a tds I'd still want more tho!

The mani can be made to fit the M20
It requires a wee bit of work and an appropriate flange welded on for whatever(T3) turbo

I've got one that's ready to bolt on,which is currently surplus to requirements as well

It's at the bottom of a bottom-less to do list, plenty of debts to pay before I start screwing up the only economical car in the house! If I find a that clip of 50's I left laying about somewhere I'll be in touch :D
