of course you are entitled to YOUR opinion, but....DanThe wrote: A 4 pot BMW just isnt a BMW IMO
one of the main reasons E30s are so well known, liked and respected are because a 4-pot E30 was the most successful Touring car of all time...
Hmmm....
also a modern E90 320d has around the same power as an E30 325 with a LOT more torque (not that a 325 is bad in that dept, either)...
The M42 engine was one of the first mass production engines to utilise coilpacks
M10 engine *saved* BMW along/with the Neue Classe
BMW F1 turbo engine was one of the most powerful engines (bhp/litre) ever...on a production derived (M10) block, too!
How many cylinders makes a BMW, then?

its the only car i know where by the battery is bigger than the engine, its still 10bhp faster than the 1.2 8v. Still, corner it on the doorhandles, I used to beat my mates everywhere in my 1.2 8v Clio although how I didn't have an almighty shunt I'll never know. Used to drive it back and forth down the M4 with my foot welded in the firewall at all times too, my logic being that Renault claimed a 99mph top speed, so it was doubtful it would be doing anything like that no matter what the speedo said, and therefore no right minded copper would ever nick me. Think I used up a lifetime's luck in about a year!
it thrashed my mates 1.2 8v fiesta with a chocolate camshaft
when i do motorway trips i have to toe it a lot of the time, driving over the a66 is painfull i try to keep up with modern 2.0 turbo diesels and as soon as i get to a slight bank im knackerd... back into 4th with foot flat down
