I have the same problem at the moment. Drive a 318is but want a 325. Do about 280 miles a week, can a 325 do that on one tank? 100 miles commuting the other just crusing to parents/playing around? I miss my mates 327 :(

of course you are entitled to YOUR opinion, but....

one of the main reasons E30s are so well known, liked and respected are because a 4-pot E30 was the most successful Touring car of all time...

Hmmm....

also a modern E90 320d has around the same power as an E30 325 with a LOT more torque (not that a 325 is bad in that dept, either)...

The M42 engine was one of the first mass production engines to utilise coilpacks

M10 engine *saved* BMW along/with the Neue Classe

BMW F1 turbo engine was one of the most powerful engines (bhp/litre) ever...on a production derived (M10) block, too!

How many cylinders makes a BMW, then?

I learnt to drive in one, my instructor thought it 'sounded quite nice' . Still, corner it on the doorhandles, I used to beat my mates everywhere in my 1.2 8v Clio although how I didn't have an almighty shunt I'll never know. Used to drive it back and forth down the M4 with my foot welded in the firewall at all times too, my logic being that Renault claimed a 99mph top speed, so it was doubtful it would be doing anything like that no matter what the speedo said, and therefore no right minded copper would ever nick me. Think I used up a lifetime's luck in about a year!

It's not a bad noise when you wind it up a bit, but you have to do that anyway to get it to move 8O
