RHD M3 Sport Evo?
Moderator: martauto
In this months BMWCar magazine there is a feature on £30k cars and the Sport Evo is one of them. In the specification there is a production figure of 976 and in brackets 50 RHD.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
Can anyone shed any light on this?
So a typical magazine inacuracy then.

That would be a very poor show for the mag to fook up like that skool boy i would say!bss325i wrote:So a typical magazine inacuracy then.
THERE IS NO RIGHT SIDE TO WAR! ONLY THE SIDE THAT IS LEFT!
I mentioned that there were 50 RHD ones made but another zoner told me off for saying such a thing. I would ask Munich legends as they know the E30 M3 better than anyone else in the UK.

NO factory production RHD M3s were ever built ,though i wouldn't be suprised if the sultan of brunei had a couple stashed away.
I wouldn't pay too much heed to sellers in aus trying to hawk their low mileage 1 owner minter factory M3s, most of them left here on a stretcher !
Unlike the red 'Hartge converted' M3 cab that is doing the rounds on the east coast !

1 black and 1 red EVO III's here in Australia been converted to RHD
The guy owns 5 E30 M3's, all RHD!

Thats because your (Australian) government is too nannying to allow LHD cars on your roads
So you take fine cars and butcher then.
Theres a rumour that BMW sent some technicians/engineers all the way to NZ in the 80s to build a one off RHD car to see if it was a plausible excercise. The president of the Kiwi BMW CC claims to own it. And gets quite defensive if you question the authenticity.
I for one cant see why BMW wouldnt just build a RHD prototype in Germany! Rather than fly people and equipment 9K miles

lots of stories of RHD e30 M3's / evo and sport evos , all from reliable people, nothing is for sure though
same story goes with the white sport evo's

1990 E30 M3 Sport Evo
Very rare, only right hand drive sport evo in NZ.
This is the 2.5 lit model, only ever made 600 of these in 1990 before they ceased production of the E30 M3.
Extensive genuine modifications done by the previous owner.Goes like a race car now.
In great condition both inside and out. 116 kms and asking $85k.
This is a genuine collectors car.
Is that the same Munich Legends that advises a new timing chain at 100K for the E30 M3Felix79 wrote:I mentioned that there were 50 RHD ones made but another zoner told me off for saying such a thing. I would ask Munich legends as they know the E30 M3 better than anyone else in the UK.

That made me chuckle!
BMW NEVER EVER made a RHD E30 M3 of any sort. Maybe a couple of prototypes but that was it. There certainly are not 50 rhd Sport Evos!

Actually, vehicles 30 years or older are exempt.Rich_W wrote:Thats because your (Australian) government is too nannying to allow LHD cars on your roadsSo you take fine cars and butcher then.
Club plate vehicles only need to be 25 years or older.
Still ~ sigh ~ I wish LHD cars were more accessible to us and we didn't need to convert them.
This is exactly what i have thought but possible someone like Birds/Hartge had done 50 sport evo's. If that was the case (which i'm sure it isn't) the there must be alot more RHD converted E30 M3's about than i got the impression of.Andyboy wrote:Felix79 wrote:I would ask Munich legends as they know the E30 M3 better than anyone else in the UK.![]()

Oh and i just read the full article and they have stated that there were 668 Black sport evos and 308 Red sport evos but no mention of the fabled white ones.
These figures seem a bit random for wrong production figures?

Munich legends are legends in their own minds, i've heard 1 too many horror storys from good folk. I've had that tosser "inspect" my sport when it was forsale and i just don't like them one bit or believe anything they say
Birds so i'm told converted around 20 M3's to RHD various models though.
I wonder if an E36 rack would fit and clear the manifold, that would bring some majic to them!

about 5 years ago when I was looking at maybe getting an M3 a posh dealership had 5 M3's and one was this lachs silve rRHD one which was £4000 more. I enquired about them and I was told there were 50 espcally done in RHD. I then had soemoen coem on here and do the usal no never ever just dealership tosh. I saw the car and the add in 05 for a RHD M3 and they wanted £10,500 when a mint M3 was about £6000 then.
now it's always one thing that I remembered as my then slu tof an ex GF ( no bitterness ) refussed to let me have a LHD car as the amount of overtaking needed ont he A4221 from Oxford to Beford was massive.
I do not have the grace of knowing the full exploited history of production varients I just remember what I was told on the phone then. weather it is true of not I don't know and tbh I don't care anymore. I was trying to point out when I said about it I was soon shouted at for saying it. I was pointing that out how I remember being told it.
No I will go sit in my corner before the sniggers get too loud and contuine polishing my redundent set of alpina 8j's

My cabs got the alpinas on the centres are usless as nics still not sent me the fkign keys and there were only 3 caps but I want somethign else fo r the cab but has to be 16's. The cab has just improved soooooooo much for being on 16's and with me now owning the C2 I like the cab to have something else.
My C2 only uses 7j's as thats what Alpina put on them and even my spare is a mint 7j
Si don't you have white Alpinas on your touring?

Agreed....They are pure rip-off merchants: Any amount of bullsh*t to extract more $$s from victims!Simon13 wrote:Munich legends are legends in their own minds, i've heard 1 too many horror storys from good folk. Dunno the figures, but they were the "official" converting shop...They used a RHD 325 rack with a slightly modified exhaust manifold to complete the job...Birds so i'm told converted around 20 M3's to RHD various models though.
E36 racks are not that special...I think that a better job would be to use a Z3 rack...I wonder if an E36 rack would fit and clear the manifold, that would bring some majic to them!

Z3 rack is too extreme, drive one at speed on a bumpy road and it gets unerving, i guess it's called bump steer. You get this with the E36 rack. Both racks are sh!t on feedback imo compared to a e30 rack though.
White rims? you must be joking!
Birds modified the sport evo manifold, they are still equal length on the primarys too. So still a great manifold
