Hi my bmw 320i m20 is ressisting to pull away from a red light quick.
It also hessitates to rev up for a couple of minutes when reved when stopped. I think it has a flat spot if so can you tell me how to get rid of the flat spot and what is it thats causng this to happen could it be because it could it has been waterlocked before and this is the water coming out now?.
thanks.

Sounds like it might need more servicing than that...
Is it an automatic? I've never seen an auto (BMW or other) that didn't hesitate a moment before moving off...even the best have a tiny delay between "foot to the floor" and "off we go"

you could try unplugging the battery and forcing the ecu to relearn settings maybe. check pipes for splits. change fuel filter. give the car a good sprint on the motorway and see.
getting a chip is suppose to remove flat spots too

i had an induction kit on my 325i and was advised to go back to the standard air box!
on doing this i noticed an improvment throughout (especially on standing starts) e30s suffer from heat under the bonnet
so when your sitting at the lights heat builds up and when you first pull off the induction kit is sucking hot air, hence loss of power!
get a paper element from euro parts for a fiver go back to the air box (you will be suprised)
worth a try!

These are typical symptoms of a neglected E30, and as I said at the start of the thread, it needs a damn'd good service!!
I'm not talking about just changing the oil and sparkplugs - I mean carefully check out the whole ignition system, check the valve clearances, check the valve gear for wear, check the AFM, check and clean the ICV, clean the throttle body, check the action of the TPS, check the plug and socket for the injector loom, check the blue temp sensor is within spec, check all hoses and gaskets for air leaks, etc, etc.
Or, in short, check that everything works and is adjusted exactly as it was when it left the factory!
