Ok my 325i has been garged this wile as doing a bit of restoring to it and charged the battery up and tryed to start it, took a wile to start then splutterd around as if getting no petrol and stoped now wont start again! what could be the problem? plenty of petrol in tank.

Had the ecu removed and refitted would that have any effect?

removing the ecu will force it to relearn so i think would give you problems like this. if the battery was only partly charged then that could be dead now so might need recharging. give it some throttle next time starting to put some petrol in the system and let it idle for a while.

The ECU will probably have to relearn idle settings if it's been disconnected, but that shouldn't prevent the car from starting.
Pull out the fuel pump relay (orange one, under cover by air filter), and link across pins 30 and 87 of its base, with a short piece of wire. This should make the fuel pump run continuously, and you should be able to hear it.

thats right, ecu removed wont prevent the car from starting but might give the cutting out/idling issues

With 30 and 87 linked you should be able to hear the pump running. or pumps, if the car is pre '88.
Check out fuse 11, as that sits between the relay and the pump, but if it's blown, it's probably because the pump is dud.

If the CPS was the problem, you didn't do the pump test correcly! Pump would buzz, whatever state the CPS was in.
