Yes Royal mail first class to Jersey in the channel islands, the parcel weighed about 25kg and it should have cost £25 to post which is what the parcel force website stated.......

And just to add if he says it didn't go with Royal Mail themselves but with Parcelforce then he will paperwork and a booking reference to prove this. Even if he hasn't got the booking paperwork a qucik call to the depot it was posted from with your address details and a date will tell you if it was sent and if so where it is now.

My bet is that they cost £700, he has made £450 out of you, then he'll sell them to his mates for a knock down £300 and still be in the money.

These would cost at least £10 to send due to their weight, you WOULD get a reciept for that(even if its just a card receipt or something). Its not as if you can chuck a couple of first class stamps on it!!

There's many ways to make him budge. The fact he says he won't pretty much proves he had no intention of sending you the goods.. but if you let him off, he will p!ss all over you by the sounds of it.

I'm pretty damn sure his walking ability is worth more than 200 notes to him. If not, sounds like elbows need to be worked on too.

Personally I'm not one for the ol' bill... but I'm certainly not one to be taken for a mug.. I'd be paying the "man" (term used _very_ loosely) a visit.. even if it meant driving the length of the country.. either way, as has happened in the past with bad deals (not related to this forum)... they always pay in the end..... one way or another (access to hospitals isn't that difficult either if you need to revisit)

very decent of him to take £450 of you, not send the parts and offer you slighly more than half your cash back.
theres 2 courses of action , the police or taking matters into your own hands whether personally or through a 3rd party.
as your so far away from him, a personal visit isnt realistic and unless you are confident you can recover the original amount and cover your expences for the trip id offer up a percentage of any amounts of cash retrieved to anyone local who wished to act on your behalf to recover the debt.

If he did actually send the item, there is no way on earth anyone would give even half the money back(when its off a large value) due to a royal mail 'fuck up.'

Tris, I am sorry you got fucked, i really am. I can see how you would prefer £250 rather than losing it all. There isn't a lot you can do really apart from make some equiries as to how best to go forward. Do you involve the courts or can you contact the police. I really don't know. The only problem is the £250 which you have understandably accepted as to be honest its all you will get out of this in my opinion.
