Part of the refurbishment programme for the Alpina includes a full strip and waxoyling. I also had to make some small repairs to the carpet which meant it coming out. Overall I shall be going throught the whole car cleaning and making repairs but this was an ideal place to start..

Interior is stripped out completely. I took the dashboard out to make it easier to remove the old alarm wiring and shonky immobilisers that were fitted in the past. I also retrofitted cruise control and an OBC at the same time. Makes a neater job with the dash out :)

I steam cleaned the carpet and then dried it thoroughly with the space heater. Thankfully the red was colourfast and came up like new 8)

Now it's time for the waxoyl. I warmed the tin to 40 degrees and then blast it in...

Removed the chassis rail plugs and filled up in here too...

I got through nearly 5 litres of waxoyl just doing the insides of the panels, cills and rails. It ran out of the car for days after; It really does get in everywhere with a good high pressure sprayer, warming the fluid is a must for best results too.

Finally back together for a few weeks then its off to have a new genuine roof fitted followed by some tittivation to the trim and leather.

All done 8)

Top work Dameon! Is the dash still out or are you gonna remove it again for the A/C?

Thank you gents. Yes, this one is a keeper I think.

I have come to the realisation that I'll probably not get a better E30 so this one is going to stay. I feel a lot more comfortable about keeping it now that I know all its secrets (a real boon of taking everything apart in this way). I will get the C2 2.7 cleaned and ready for sale in July and use the funds from that to make this car the best I can. It's nice working on this car because most of what has been done to it in the past regarding bodywork, has been done very well.

I need to get the bootlid painted and the rear offside quarter panel pod is missing its locating lug. Also the Mtec lower valance has the usual split, otherwise the bodywork is in great shape. I've got the replacement C2 2.5 badge for the rear, supposely NLA, and I've been itching to stick them on. I got my display pass for Gaydon yesterday so I'm looking forward to that 8)

I'll take the dashboard back out to put the Air Con in. I'm getting pretty good at them now, just over an hour! I'm actually looking forward to fitting the A/C - a great addition to a car even in the Winter. The last time I fitted full A/C was in your car Barry, that was a lot more difficult becuase of the complications with the compressor pipes to the S50 motor. This one should be far easier. I did have a momentary crisis of faith about molesting a genuine alpina by adding factory options but soon came to my senses :)

I have also started on the iX (just visible in the pictures above), that is going to be a long term project of the higher order!

Hey Ratch

Mr. Warburton has it for sale on my behalf, perhaps you could do a deal with him if you're interested, maybe he'd chuck in some light grey seat backs too :D

Ha! That was sorted long ago.

Why are you selling?

I am into C2's but dunno about that red leather. It's kinda cool but a bit too gentlemen's club Winchester chair for me.

I asked because a friend of mine is after a posh E30 Cabrio of some sort - this could be it.
