new member problems
Moderator: martauto
hey there new member just got told to post this in here so
have a rather bad problem at the moment, a vibration, i know the alloys are currently slightly warped and had a bit of vibration but it is slowly getting worse to the point its making the dashboard shake between certain speeds, could this be more than just the alloys? the next problem is ive lost access to my boot.... a few days ago went to it in the morning... pushed it in after unlocking the car.... nothing... no click as in it opens, no proper resistance it always moves back into place but doesn't feel right, ive tried opening it with the key but when i put the key in? doesn't even turn, does anyone have any ideas what this could be? thanks. cars an 320i se coupe btw thanks
Did the boot lock turn before the problem happened? It could be a duff motor, if you cant get the boot open, if you take off the back seat you should see a ski hatch, if it hasn't already been punched out you might need to "create" the hole and then using a long screwdriver you should be able to fiddle the lock open! you'll deffo be able to see whats wrong then! Good luck Buddy. Welcome to the E30 bible!
yeah it turned fine, i get the feeling its the spring which has gone and jammed it or something? you know if i did unlock it from the inside could i lock it again? >< prob a silly question but don't want it flying open on my way to work.
thanks
thanks
ok well ive fixed the boot lock on it
ive changed the wheels so nicer, ive changed the rear drum as it had a big chip out of it ive also done the rear left bearing (narrowed it down to the rear left wheel its coming from after jacking it up) the vibration is no where near as bad, instead of being constant its only happening between roughly 75 - 95 mph and before anyone says it am not condoning speeding this car is going on the nurburgring in just over a month so i need to make sure that this vibration is no longer there for these speeds.
do you think it could be the drive shaft that needs replacing?
thanks for all your help.

Do your alloys have the correct centre bore for the e30?
If not then they should have spiggot rings are these fitted??

is the vibration under load or speed related if it is speed related it is more than likely to be a wheel problem.. like said above a dodgy tyre, un-balenced wheel or incorrect fitting wheel will cause a vibration
Bollocks to this 24v scrap!

theres a hundred things that can cause vibration on an e30, I know I replaced them all before I checked how straight my alloy was
Chris

standard diff wont cost you much at all, first two names on here that come to mind are chrisw or spadge.
if you want to spend money an lsd makes a hell of a difference tho finding one with the right ratio for your car could be tricky

well got another diff... turned out to be the wrong one so swaped around the driveshaft connections and it works:) different ratio seems to give me some more low end acceleration but a slightly higher top speed
the inside of the old diff was absolutely mashed cogs everywhere took about 4 hours look at it this way.... i was under the car still at 1am never again! got to drive an old mk2 jetta for a few days though was certainly different.... lovely car but makes you appreciate BMs alot more
thanks for all your help guys much appreciated.
