My mate wants to get this done.
I understand that both should be cleaned, but do they need to be polished ?
He knows a local foundry place, that could shot-blast the items ? Is that advisable ?
What is the best way to do this, so it's safe, and then have the painted ? What sort of paint should be used ?
Anyone know of a place in or around London, preferably towards W.London or Oxford ?
All advice/suggestions appreciated.
Cleaning and painting rocker cover and inlet manifold ?

if there's any blasting going to happen especaially to the rocker cover then mask the inside first - for any debris in there will fall into the engine and accelerate wear.

When i painted my rocker cover i used some spray on mousse paint stripper and a wire brush to remove that yellow cosmoline(sp?) stuff and then i used brake cleaner to remove any oil that was left.

I got the paint for about 7 quid per tin from here.

Have a look at the other painting cam cover thread.

Nah easier to just spray over them and use a sanding block to take the paint off the raised parts afterwards.A1BMW325iSport wrote:so do ya just mask of the bmw logo and stripes then?

Could I use this on the inlet manifold?

You probably could but you'd have to polish the manifold first to get a decent finish.Jimbob wrote:Could I use this on the inlet manifold?
