My mate wants to get this done.

I understand that both should be cleaned, but do they need to be polished ?

He knows a local foundry place, that could shot-blast the items ? Is that advisable ?

What is the best way to do this, so it's safe, and then have the painted ? What sort of paint should be used ?

Anyone know of a place in or around London, preferably towards W.London or Oxford ?

All advice/suggestions appreciated.

I was going to get mine chemically cleaned... Haven't thought about how to "colour it in" but just decided chemical cleaning to do the inside of the inlet manifold as well

bharat

if there's any blasting going to happen especaially to the rocker cover then mask the inside first - for any debris in there will fall into the engine and accelerate wear.

When i painted my rocker cover i used some spray on mousse paint stripper and a wire brush to remove that yellow cosmoline(sp?) stuff and then i used brake cleaner to remove any oil that was left.

I got the paint for about 7 quid per tin from here.

Have a look at the other painting cam cover thread.

Nah easier to just spray over them and use a sanding block to take the paint off the raised parts afterwards.

You probably could but you'd have to polish the manifold first to get a decent finish.
