Has anyone tried those LED bulbs yet? Just wondered if they were compatable with the check control?

I'm not sure if the check control measures for open circuit (ie blown bulb) or if it looks at resistance?

They won't be compatible with the check control, but if you use everlasting LEDs, then you won't need the check control for the lamps you change.
Just disconnect the in and out wires for those particular circuits from the check control module, and join them together.

:offtopic:
The rear bulb check for the check panel works by passing a current through coils of wire, and the resulting emf switches reed switches.

The light goes on when there isn't enough current through the coils to generate enough of an emf to switch the reed.
(wrong bulb or fried bulb)

Ahh cheers guys

Thinking about it you are right about the current as in the past I had to fit the wrong bulb tempoarily at that caused the light to stay on.

They are still quite expencive so I'll probably stick to the standard bulbs

Most LEDS without some kind of current/voltage filtering wont last very long on any car.

For the price they charge for these things, I would hope all that is built in.

I've got LED brakelights / rearlights / sidelights / numberplate lights.

Luv 'em!

Also - if I forget to turn off my lights when I park up (which has been known) - no more drained batttery.

On a white car, the ultra-white slighty blueish number plate lights look wicked - and they are well bright.

Just a bugga about the check panel. Gonna try and wire up some resisters to the LED to see what that does.

If you wire in the resistors, you'll increase the battery drain to that of ordinary lamps, and flatten your battery if you leave them switched on when parked!

Connect your OBC gong to your doors/lights so you dont leave them on!
