Decals are readily available so not a problem. Personally i would only put the decals on the front spoiler ,i think the body ones are a bit OTT. I currently have a Biturbo in macau with gold stripes and i can't help thinking they look a bit garish, not that macau with champagne leather isn't !

PS can of worms opened, if it was mine i would also go with chrome gutter trim etc !

It's gotta be full Gold or there's no point even getting out of bed to go collect the thing.

An altyernative I put to Si a while back was Cosmos black (E46 M3) - ca stunning metallic black with a bluey tinge.

As for Alpina blue, I think silver stripes would be more subtle. But stripeless sides with chrome gutter trim would look very nice.

Alpina period colours only and full decals if decals are applied.

I voted blue, but only because every 325 or 318is always seems to be in diamond black. Both my e30's included. The blue will set it away from the rest.

Put it this way, how many black c2 alpinas exist in the uk? 10-15?

I voted for black, but I've changed my mind again to the blue. Black - it just looks like an iS with a kit. Blue - no doubt at all.

All depends on whether you give a flying what other people will think of your car.

Personally, as I say, I'm going for the blue. For now.

You say that, but when I was a kid we had quite a rare car - it was one of 3 - and it was not in the build colour, but had a documented colour change credited to one of the owners in its history. Didn't harm the value or provenance at all.

As previously stated, bright yellow would be a mistake; a period, genuine colour is a different matter.

Not at all - it's 2 minutes work to amend the colour on the V5. Look at the blue B6 2.8 in the Chrome Section - that didn't leave the factory blue, Alpina in Buchloe stripped it and painted it before delivery to the first owner. It was only in the E34 Era where BMW supplied a ready painted rolling shell for the BiTurbos and B10's. Before that, Alpina were a BMW tuner who did their own thing.

Are you 100% sure on this Andy? That the cars left the factory one colour then Alpina had them repainted?

My C2 2.7 breaker is as you know in Alpina green, the other "House" colour and this is now striped to a shell and there is no trace whatsoever of any other colour anywhere but what it does have is as paint sticker which says 'Sonderslach' (sp) which as you know means special paint.
When an order was put through for a new C2, surely they didn't strip and repaint the whole car just to accomodate these two unique to alpina colours?

just read the whole thread, personaly if i was to by one of these I would expect any decently restored one to have had a decent respray,

So as long as it is one of the period colours I wouldn't be to fussed if it had a colour change, in which respect I would go for the blue as it is the rarer of the two.

we dont always run that sequence... i can swap the cyan and magenta around and still get the same results, i run a 7 year old komori L540 with inline anilox coater(aqueouse varnish)
