I currently have a home made gearbox cross member supporting my e28 dogleg box. I'm not entirely happy with it so want to get the real deal fitted. What do I need? 323i or m3.
I've checked the ETK and it comes up with different part numbers. Did all M3s have dogleg boxes?
Cheers in advance.

O.K. I'll try again: all european spec M3 have dogleg gearboxes. And M3 crossmember (BMW pn. 23 71 2 225 261) is the one you need.

So the mounting points on the chassis are the same across the e30 range? Thats why I asked if I would need the 323i one because its a different part number to the m3 one. I assumed this would be because of chassis differences.
Thanks for your help

The mounts on the box are very different. Your rubber mounts are on a slight angle where as the M3 ones have a bend in them to take them to a vertical position before they get to the box. The ETK shows this quite clearly but for some reason I can't do a link.

Yeah I've seen your getting rid. Cheaply to, I reckon you could have got a lot more mate. Are you keeping the car though??jaffro wrote:just had a look they are very different. good luck with it mate my conversion is going lol
I already have a mount but it uses 318is mounts on a homemade cross member. Its very strong ( like my engine mounts) but I want the geabox positioning perfect to avoid the prop eating itself.

The car is living on, thats the main thing. It will be better for that conversion, rather than a big old m30 lump
