finally i decided to pull the carpet off to have a look and see what's hiding under it.

i was very impressed and happy, 25 years old car with no major rust.

i cleaned with a rust converter thingy and sprayed it with a rubberized undercoating body deadener

its not just the m50 project anymore, its the whole car :D

the carpet is 25 years old and never been taken out of the car
i spent 1 hour jet washing it and brushing it. it didn't do much so i had to buy some carpet cleaning things.
came up good at the end.

its not just one carpet cleaner, i bought 3 diffrent ones after i jet washed it for 1 hour.

the car had 280000 miles when i bought it 2 years ago :( .

here is the first pics of the car when i first bought it

the car had a broken rear axle, the diff was hanging down, tailshaft half cut, the automatic transmission dead, the car didnt move and the engine mounts where broken and the engine sitting on the radiator

finaly after a long day and lots of problems the engine is in the car

i tried 2 diffrent gearboxes and 3 diffrent flywheels till it worked

m50 + m50 dualmass flywheel & clutch + m20 gearbox = wont go in

m50 + m20 singlemass flywheel & clutch = need to shave the back of the flywheel

m50 + e30 m42 dualmass flywheel & clutch + m20 gearbox = works perfect

i used the m50 starter. no problems

lots of american guys use the ebay headers and say they fit much better than OE manifolds.

also instead of E30 M3 MC, try the 25mm from a 750, it's what the E30 M3 guys use. $140USD new

i am having problems with the brakes, i need help please

i used the clio booster and e30 master cyl, it didnt work good the clio booster didnt connect to the linkage behind the glovebox, its too long and the hole for the pin is small. i adjusted the linkage and that caused the brake pedal to go up much higher than the clutch peadl and its anoying and it makes funny noise.

then i tried to shorten the clio booster linkage and get the brake pedal to its normal postion but i ended up with no brake.

i am going to try to use the clio m/c tomorrow and get custom brake lines made up and use a T piece to connect the front brake lines.

it looks like the clio's in australia are diffrent from the ones in the uk. and getting golf gti boosters is imposible in here.

any ideas ??
