No, not seen one myself, it's available on the ETK, and I enquired about one a few years back, and it was about £250.bss325i wrote:That i did not know. Any pics?Simon wrote:Anthracite headlining was available on late tourings too.

Well Im going to defend 4 doors. (Because I have one)
Those little 2 door things look dumpy to me. A bit like the difference between Giselle Bundchen and Dawn French.
There I tried!

Quick question: does a car lose its stiffness if it has 4 doors compared to a 2 door?

I remember around 10yrs ago going to see a friend trying to sell a 2dr 325 from his stock...He was moaning that everyone wanted 4drs or tourings...
I think things go in cycles...
A 2 dr may look a little cleaner than a 4 dr and weigh a little less...But for practicality (especially if you have kids and clobber to cart around) 4drs and tourings make so much more sense....
I/we have one of each: M3 2 dr, 325 4dr and 320 touring...each is good in its' own way.
I derive some satisfaction from knowing that the more 4drs that are broken for spares, the rarer they become and the more they will be sought after in the future...If only mine will last that long

Wonder why the first E36 was a 4 door?
Youth is wasted on the young.
my 94 318 touring has black headliner
and I love my 325 4 door, it makes fitting a roll cage and shoving spare parts in the back so much easier! trying to fit 17 inch race tires, jack, tools etc in the back of a caged M3 is a real PITA! 4 door is cake

Not so with the E30, 2dr, 4dr, convertible then touring.Chris-W wrote:4 door always launches first, usually followed by 2 door, touring and finally convertible.daimlerman wrote:Wonder why the first E36 was a 4 door?
I'm sure you knew that already though Chris
lol!Chris-W wrote:I was vaguely aware, yes.
I think it was the fact that nobody with a e30 wanted 4 doors so they slung them all on the first run of the e dirty 6tomson wrote:Because there were still a few 2 door E30's hanging around???daimlerman wrote:Wonder why the first E36 was a 4 door?

Or could it be that the 4 door was more desirable and sold better?Steve-E30 wrote:I think it was the fact that nobody with a e30 wanted 4 doors so they slung them all on the first run of the e dirty 6tomson wrote:Because there were still a few 2 door E30's hanging around???daimlerman wrote:Wonder why the first E36 was a 4 door?

In the last years of the E30, the 4dr was the best seller for most engine options.daimlerman wrote:Or could it be that the 4 door was more desirable and sold better?Steve-E30 wrote:I think it was the fact that nobody with a e30 wanted 4 doors so they slung them all on the first run of the e dirty 6tomson wrote: Because there were still a few 2 door E30's hanging around???
The E21 3 series was never available in anything other than a 2dr and a Baur cabrio. On E30 launch, the 2 dr was the first as a direct replacement for the E21...
The 4 dr (and full factory cabrio and Touring) came later...partly as a result of consumer demand and partly because BMW were moving towards being a volume manufacturer.
When the E36 was released, there was a complete re-think: Firstly the coupe 2dr and the saloon 4dr bodyshells are different (whereas the E30 2dr and 4dr are very similar) with the Coupe having a wider track, too. Also, as the 4dr E30 was outselling the other versions, it made sense to release the 4dr first.
The 2dr coupe followed very shortly afterwards
The cabrio and touring, though, remained E30 style for another 18-24mths, IIRC

My point exactly, the 4 door was more desirable. Bet BMW tarted up the 325i 2 door, called it a 'sport',in an effort to shift a few more of the unwanted 2 door shells....funny how time changes things.
