Morning all,

I'm cleaning up the Wiki, and the M20 page is looking a little sparse:

http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/index.php/M20

If any one of you have some info that you think ought to be there, or can see errors (like hp figures, for example), then say it here and I'll make ammendments

early M20's fitted to e21's were known as the M60 engine back then. They took the M20 name when the e30 apppeared

Well, the M20 page is growing somewhat, but I still need contributions. Parts, faults, niggles, quirks and guides; anything you know.

Coolant flow is regulated by the thermostat, which is controlled by the ECU based on readings from the temperature sensor.
When the temperature is correct, the ECU opens the thermostat to allow coolant to flow to the radiator.

This I believe is incorrect, The two temperature sensors are for the ECU and temp guage on the dash, the thermostat opens and closes itself according to the coolant temperature, the ECU has no control over the thermostat.

Yea, thermostats have no link to the ECU. Just read up that it's as simple as wax melting that opens the thermostat :o

engine is the Sump, a steel dish that provides an oil bath fo

should be aluminium

pretty sure the bearing shells are steel backed white metal rather than just steel.
m21 bearings are copper/lead

with modern semi synthetic oils the oil cooler i not really required

expansion tank on pre facelifts is by the battery

is it open for editing by anyone? if so ill add bits as and when i think of them

eta - the 2.8 stroker page needs some serious updates now as well.

I can give access to anyone who wants it; you just have to ask for a username and password by PMing me (including what you'd like your password to be). You'll then be able to log in and add info. I will only amend your spelling mistakes :D

I've updated the M20 page with the new info. Thanks HairyScreech.
