are there any BHP gains to be had by chipping a standard 325. the only mod it will have is aribox removed and replaced with cold air fed cone filter. is it better to change the cam if i am chipping or are there benefits on a standard engine ??

better off with the standard airbox and a chip imo..

chip sees an 8bhp or so gain i believe

a chip from ant will give you nice gains and iron out any flat spots etc
also possible fuel economy gains

but removing the airbox for a cone is a real no no on most e30s

all it usualy does is kill some power rather than gain any

really ? !! the car came with a cone fitted and i just ducted some cold air in. i have heard the ITG foam filter is good ? . i spent ages making a box to go round the cone filter with heat reflective sheet on it to help keep the air cool. anyone got and airbox for sale ?? fuel economy is not an issue -only used on tracks. i want more power !!!

i'd be really keen to see the results with and without the new chip.

The ITG foam filters make a positive difference as a chip does.

Every single person who has fitted them and tested them back to back has said there is a noticeable difference which shouldn't occur in theory over the OE stuff.

Debatable subject but I find genuine set up is the best........no disrespect to others but BMW got it right from the start.
