no sound stereo
Moderator: martauto
Well just fitted a new system, speakers appeared to be blown as it had bad distortion.Good excuse for new speakers, after fitting no difference. It had alot of dodgy wiring so I took it back to basics,NO sound at all now,you can hear it in background if its flat out but thats it .To much volume and the speakers completely cut out.Never had any problems fitting units before so Im of the opinion there must be an amp fitted as standard somewhere. Its on a m3 1991 any ideas?

i had this same problem, it turned out that the orig bmw wiring is not much cop, i pulled it out it it seems that the loop lives over to the speakers iv still got the orig harness, the best way to over come the problem is re-wire the speakers yourself, easy enough to do. i took passanger front seat out that where the side the wires run to the back.
Ok is there isn't some silly switch or fader type misadjustment (you may have set by accident) on the headunit somewhere that is throwing things out?
If the wiring is the absolute original factory stuff there should be no chance of error.
I would make it simple and connect up the system using the old speakers just sitting on the floor and just normal wires to elimiante the chance of wiring fault in the old wires.

have you got the original fader still in the car???? if so Just rewire the speakers its easier!!
Sorted! rewired the thing from start to finish worked perfect from the word go.The standard wiring has to be checked out My yellow which was live feed turned out to be putting out 2 volts when I rewired the speakers,it was 12 before.Dont know why, dont care took new feed and it is fine. If I was doing it again I would just do the full rewire easy done and I would have had it finished in half the time
