I would have thought that a vac leak woul give a constant engine speed.
I had a knackered idle control valve with the exact symptoms, it would also cut out after 30 seconds or so and wouldn't restart unless the ICV was disconnected. Second hand ICV sorted it.

Had a split intake boot (AFM to Throttle) that was leaking air and caused crazy erratic idle. Once revved it was a bit better.
Replaced it and it's fine. They also have a hole underneath that needs to be plugged and the new boot does not come with it so use the old one.

can someone send me a pic of the icv just so i know i looking at the right thing. The thing that worried me was as you can see on the video the mpg gauge reving up to arond 50 but when you rev ya car normal to the same revs the mpg gauge doesnt go that far

Yup, that'll clean it.
However it may be bolloxed. Turn the ignition on but don't start her up, listen to the ICV, it should buzz.
If it doesn't then its likely to be knackered.
