I've found that the T piece for the windscreen washer jet is pissing water out of two small holes in it. I guess that these are pressure relief holes? Does that mean that the jets are blocked? Or is it a fault?

Mine's doing the same at the moment. My jets were blocked and I cleared them with a needle this morning but the T piece is still squirting. It happened a few years ago and I replaced all the bits. I think I put in too much screen wash and a crusty residue has built up. I intend to empty the reservoir and wash it all through with warm water and see how it goes

Common fault. Needs replacing. Not expensive from the dealer.tomstickland wrote:I've found that the T piece for the windscreen washer jet is pissing water out of two small holes in it. I guess that these are pressure relief holes? Does that mean that the jets are blocked? Or is it a fault?

OK, thanks, I'll replace. Meanwhile I'm going to jubilee clip a glove over the holes. I'm fed up with the Grey world I see through the front screen.

So common that they probably won't even need to look up the part number.

Great, thanks for the info.
Why do they fail though? Do they seize up, go brittle, block etc?
So the hole is pressure relief?

Doesn't even have to be a BMW part. Standard one from your local neighbourhood spares place will work fine.

SNAP!! I lost pressure in my washers after i had the bonnet off for doing the timing belt and noticed yesterday when i had the bonnet open that when i flicked the washers on it was like a fountain below the bonnet, the 2 t-piece typr connectors, (like little barrells) where pissing water out of 2 wee tiny holes in each. So i'm gathering by what you guys are saying that they are fooked and i need new ones.... Is it just me or does everything just start failing in the winter??

What are you putting in your washer bottle? They last ten years at least.amit325i wrote:I found on average the life expectancy of these bits to be a couple of years at the best! I have replaced it 3 times now, its an easy but annoying job! Those clamps are a pain to get of though!
