changed front shocks over for some bilsteins, and the springs, and then tried to take the disks off, but end up rounded off the f'in small screw that holds them in, on both sides, that just wound me right up...

I opened the garage door, looked at the turd, then closed the door again
Connected jump lead between solenoid and batt -ve. Starter still not turning, locked it again and went inside to find other starter motor.. Sunday I swear I will change it this time.

its ok - ive done that in the past (to be fair the engine was over heating and my mate put water in a fuel can and let the car run out of fuel too!)cakey87 wrote:Put 5 litres of water in it instead of petrol, surprisingly it dusnt want to start.

Wished it goodnight while I was boosting the boiler in the garage.
Two headblenders, couple of bags of MC Hammer, 5 litres of FFF, a 48ft bastard, a box of jumped-up custard and some soggy chimps
Drove it to the MOT, drove it home again...now I need to fix some stuff within 10 working days.

Removed the remains of the old water pump, along with the 4 correct length mounting bolts instead of the laughably short bolts that had no chance of connecting the pump to the block
, fitted new belts. Filled with new coolant , bled the system.
No leaks, no over heating and a lovely warm interior.

also got the bonnet foam but forgot to bring it home
still a few more things to get to add to the bounty stash ive alrewady got tucked away
Not too much really, I expected it to fail really badly for it's first MOT with me. Pleasantly surprised though that it failed on the following:mcbonio wrote:Oh dear, whats up with it FinalD?FinalD wrote:Drove it to the MOT, drove it home again...now I need to fix some stuff within 10 working days.
I'll sort it all over the next week.Nearside Front bleedniple Braking system leaking (3.6.A.1) **DANGEROUS**
Rear into tank Fuel hose leaking (7.2.3) **DANGEROUS**
Exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content excessive (7.3.B.2a)
Parking brake efficiency below requirements (3.7.A.10) **DANGEROUS**
The bleed nipple isn't the bleed nipple but is the union between the solid copper line and the new braided line, it has a very minor weep, but obviously I need to sort that.
Fuel hose...I'm not sure which hose/pipe they mean so will have to have a play underneath.
Emissions were hilarious (pre cat car so max of 3.5% CO), it ran 6.78%.
The hand brake, I had made it too tight before so slackened it off, too far it seems, easy fix.
Not too bad as the car hadn't been MOTed since March 2010 and had blown an engine in late 2010, early 2011. Over the past 6 months I've stripped large amounts down and rebuilt them and sourced a replacement engine.
Also as it was the first proper drive I've done in the car...wow, handles a lot better than I'd expected and makes a glorious noise. I drove home with the roof down and I love it.

I admired it today. Yesterday I fixed a lingering wash / wipe problem, then took it for a celebratory hand wash
If it ain't broke, fix it till it is

I took off the exhaust, heatshield and prop ready to take the gearbox off this afternoon and tried not to look at the rust bubbling through the rear wheel arches!

I squeezed past it getting to mt toolbox, then squeezed back and adjusted the sheet covering the bonnet.
