Right following a post on here bout someone wanting some uprated engine mounts sutable for track/road/race and rally cars the other day,

a rather clever reply from Uwem3 showed a tried and tested idea of using . . . . .

ICE HOCKEY PUCKS yes thats ice hockey pucks, they re glued together and then 2 3mm s/s plates one one the top and one on the bottom and the the middle puck before gluing will be machined down to the correct size for the engine mount !! then a hole is drilled threw the middle and fastened to the chasis using m10 high tensile bolt and double nutted at the top ! there is a fair bit of work but i have found a company to do it if the interest is there

On the thread there were lots of people saying the pucks were difficult to get hold of etc and finding out the height of their engine mounts would be a pain on a daily driver ,

After much searching i have managed to find a surplier that is ready to go for these pucks i have someone who can make the plates to the correct size and they wil be high quallity laser cut jobbies ! and i have the bots and nuts also ready to go , aswell as a machine shop to drill and machine the pucks down !

now i am offering three things if the interest is there

1 ) i can just surplie the pucks needed for the job , you source your own bolt, nuts and plates and also get the middle on lathed down

2)i surplie the bolts the nuts the pucks and you get the puck machined down

3 ) i send you the bolts the pucks glued together machined down holes drilled plates atached and ready to fit , and it will be made to the correct height for your engine . ( the best i think )

i have been in a car with these i and i think they are great not solid to transfer to much vibration but hard enough to do a bloody good job !

uwe m3 has run these with others for 3 ring trips and several uk track days and he says his engine moves nill

THESE WILL NOT BE BODGED TOGETHER CRAP THEY WILL BE A CHEAPER SOLUTION TO GETTING A GREAT ENGINE MOUNT IMO

let me know make lists etc of who is interested in what and we will go from there , i have a the bits redy for this and have put alot of effort in and i have even ordered some engine mounts for the m10,m20,m42,s14 from bmw to measure the height so they are exactlly right please let me know as i say i am ready to go the more they are thecheaper they are !!!

thanks arron

Hahaha that's fantastic! It's clever, and hilarious that you can then say "Yes, they ARE hockey pucks!". I'd grab some off you but I am just going to stack a load of big washers up instead :D

good man as i say i can cater for engines 316,318,318is,320,325,s14 everything really

the mounts i have ordered in from bmw are from a 1990 car not that this matters i dont think any engine mounts changed with the years did they ?

But I doubt they changed anyway.

right managed to get everything together for this now finally sorry guys

So to confirm you get for the price

Pucks x 6

High tensile bolts x 2

High tensile nuts x 4

Laser cut plates x 4

Fully assembled and glued , hole drilled in the middle and machined down to the correct height for your enine what ever that may be :D

I have the NEW standard mounts for all the e30 models so have got the exact sizes

I have nbot been able to Get a price on posting them as a kit out yet but be warned they are quite heavy and the price is pushed up buy around a tenner for postage .

The kits i hope will come out around £35-40 delivered ,

this is an estimate and includeds the pucks being made to size glued together , laser cut plates , high tensile bolts , etc etc

sorry if you think this is to much but as i say i am trying to get it cheaper , i will now very soon

so if they work out to £35-40 who is interested

please list your names and engine including code below example

1) Agreen - 318is - M42

thanks and sorry again if the price is higher than expected but the laser cutting and the delivery is what has pushed the price up altogether for a engine mount that is proven on track and the ring i think the price is fine.

best regards

This sounds like a great idea! I'm currently fitting an M42 into an E21 and a lot of people use the E28 mounts, but these pucks seem ace. Since I'm not sure what height I'm going for, how much for option 2 if that's still an option?

Thanks

well basically i was hoping these would be alot cheaper than they turned out

Yes everyone who's these pucks are cheap £1.10 plus delivery

but the price of the plates being laser cut , the high tensile bolts and the postage thats the big thing that adss a tenner !!!!

so i was machining them for like a couple of quid to pay my mates time

so £30 or summat

sorry to every one else if these seems expensive but it is really the best i could do guys !

You can collect which would be alot cheaper then they will be around £25 - £30 machined down !

just need to see how many deffos i have to determin the correct price .

but the above are rough estimates

thanks

i'm still in because i'm too lazy to chase up the parts myself if someone else is willing to do it for reasonable money

you're not too far from me so i could possibly collect, but then again it might still cost memore in petrol than dlivery would be :P
cheers,

you don't need to glue them actually. The bolt holds them together. It's just a a better way to install them without holding all the seperate bits togther while trying to push the bolt through.

then the engine will sit too low , you need at least three i think with the top one shaved down

i have the laser cut plates and the bolts made for these and will sell them if people want to have a go at machining the pucks , as it became apparent people did not want to pay for machining time .

cheers
