The electric sunroof in my tourer sometimes needs a helping hand when closing from the fully open position, and sometimes to open on the tilt and slide. Does anyone else have this problem? Anyway to make it work every time as it should?

yep I spray WD40 every now and then, but I am sure the mechanic at work has some special grease to use,so I will have to have a wee plunder someday. winkeye

Mine has recently started needing a helping hand to go back that last inch from sliding.

Tilt is no problem though.

Yea mine sometimes needs a thump to free it up for the slide but it tilts fine.

I just figured it was a bit dry round the edges...doesnt worry me really, gives it character :P

Mine need a little persuasion for the back end to drop down and then move back the first inch. and then the same again when i close it.

I just haven't got round to greasing it. I reckon the seal has a part to play as well though.

Mine does this too and I think the seal is partly to blame.

Was there not a thread ages ago about a one piece rubber replacement seal? I've tried a search for it but couldn't find the thread. Does anybody know if these are available from BMW and if so what the part no is?

Is it the sunroof that scares you master Yoda or the sun itself??

:!: :!: :!: They have got to be having a laugh with those prices....

I thought a new seal would be £25 tops.

Only problem with mine is that sometimes when sliding it, it gets stuck moving down - a quick jab on the other button frees it with a satisfying thunk, and then it'll slide back :) Makes me think the seal is sticking to the roof at the back, or pulling the roof panel down slightly. Only started noticing this when my seal split on each side though - i think i'll live with it for a bit longer rather than spending out on a new one!

I treated the seal with Vaseline - sunroof wouldn't open, but it does now!
