A cone filter heatshield made outa ally that is wrapped round that and the AFm but isnt fastened down but the noise it would make as it vibrated against the chassis when driving...
That is what i have continioulsy..sound like Det?
If anyone can find or get me a clip/Wav of detonation/pinking that would be great BTW
i took said shield off and stuck it in the boot..still had noise and it doenst get louder as RPM's increase and it doenst just happen under boost..infact the only time i CANT hear it is if i take my foot of the Gas...any level of throttle and i get this noise..faint but its there
Does it sound like nails rattling around in a tin..yep it prolly does but the symtpons/times of it happening are different to what ive read with only under boost or high RPM's etc
So while on the phone to Jon_bmw i thought id adjust the boost and knocked it down to 5psi and still had the noise... can that really be Det with them symtpons and at that PSI?
Imagine if you will the sound off...(Det info)

if she rattles under heavy LOAD ( forget boost/rpms etc etc) its almost defo some Det creeping in
nails in a tin is a good way to desribe the noise, short of hearing it in the flesh, cant say 100% either way Jamz, Iain may be worth asking , or the guys @ E-Tech ?

Yeah, you wouldn't be putting any load on it just revving so it'd be less likely to occur.
Does it get louder/more intense with more throttle?

So how am i going to get round this as i dont know what im looking for?
hopefully Jon will be able to get down here and take a look, sure he will know straight away...5psi with a nice IC flow and still have Det is ludicruis so im hoping what im hearing isnt that.
im looking at doing a conpression test too ASAP as i think its the stem seals gone and what else they find while there down there..so sorting this Det problem out now is parramount.

Carl, just woke up
Answered your pm.
Top thing to check i think would be the vaccum pipes to the boost gauge, FPR and the Vortech. Check the boost one carefully as its routed near the turbo and may have got burnt!
