Hi Guys,
I've been investigating this problem for a bit, but I'm starting to run out of ideas.
This is what has been tested so far,
No spark before or after the distributor
12V to coil confirmed with ignition on and whilst cranking
Coil tested - Primary resistance 0.6 Ohms, secondary resistance 6000 Ohms (I'm confident these numbers are okay, as although they don't reflect the figures given in the Bentley manual, a brand new coil gave the same numbers)
Reference mark sensor and speed sensor tested (located in bell housing) - both 865 Ohms (both right on the edge of tolerance given in Bentley 960+-96 Ohms, I'm assuming both sensors are okay)
Main relay tested - 12V measured at centre pin of idle air stabiliser valve with ignition on (although the valve does not "buzz" when ignition is on which I think it should?)
Fuel to fuel rail confirmed when cranking
No sign of fuel on spark plugs after cranking engine
Any ideas guys?
I'm running out of tests now and I'm still not confident on the cause.
Can the fuel pump still run if the reference/speed sensors are broken?
Are there any tests I can do to confirm if the ECU is operating properly?
87 325i - No spark, injectors not firing
